Seems worth it to help out people who are doing jobs none of us will do. (And before you say you will stop the lies, you would no more give up your job to wash dishes or mow lawns then pigs will fly)
However once the illegals become 'legal' they start paying tax, over the long run this will offset most if not all of the cost of this project.

Im against the trillions spent on the Bush/Cheney/Blair war. Whether you deport them or give them amnesty is will cost. The burden of this cost should be handed to the companies that have illegally hired them and not the general public. But this is politics and it just wont happen. My question is this: Would we be just doing business as usual had not the current administration not even brought the subject up? Yes.

Most of this estimated 2.5 Trillion would be spent on updating the border security. And by updating they mean actually having the manpower and resources to effectively secure the border.
Also the proposed bill is adding a new designation for a workers visa; it only allows illegals a 3 year visa that could possibly lead to permanent citizenship.
I do think they need to up the penalty for companies that employ illegals and I don't think that's addressed in this bill.
There are worse consequences then spending that much tax payer money.The dirty little truth is this is not about making poor hard working people who just need a break citizens it is an attempt by the far left to regain their power in Washington. Come on people how many times are you going to believe the Ted Kennedys and the others when they say this time we are going to be tough and enforce the laws of this bill! We have already allicated enough money to build a border fence that seems to be working in the 28 miles that have been constructed so far. Why haven't they finished it or at least still working on it? Because it's working and liberls don't want that! The more illegals the better...In the last 50 years they have not on either side enforced illegal immigration laws.

If this bill passes even modified and these people are granted legal status and a fast track tword citizenship who do you think they will vote for? Surely not conservatives who advocate less government and self reliance. Then why should we send them home just to come right back that's stupid and a waste of their hard earned money scratch that one too. And why set a time limit on when they can become citizens?
