How many Americans are on their high horse...?
Answer:
pretty much everybody who answered is afraid to answer your question, by the way. Happens a lot on here, don't take it personally. They're just idiots. They are spoiled and ungrateful.
immigrating legally takes well over 10 years. when you face a very real possiblity of dying in one if you dont go to better conditions, guess what you're going to do. You're going to go illegally. I dont' care who you are or how much pride you have in your country. If its' starve or break a law that makes no sense and employers don't follow, what's the logical decsion? and No, following the law isn't it for the idiots out there.
We have the right to control our borders, and not sell our country down the river for cheap labor and and greedy politicians, illegals than not only break our laws but then want to turn it around and want us to feel sorry for them
My mom came from another country. The youngest of 12 children from a dirt poor family. She managed to become an American citizen the right way. Why can't others do it?
You obviously have no idea what the issue is. Allow me to help you to understand:
The reasons that illegal immigration is a problem are numerous:
1) Most of us have ancestors that came to America legally. They followed all of the rules, they learned the language, they adapted to the culture, and they contributed to the country by working and _paying their taxes_. Why is that so much to ask for these illegal immigrants?
2) Illegal immigrants take jobs away from unskilled labor that belongs to American citizens. Many people use the line, "well they're just doing jobs that no American wants anyway." So every American is college-educated and middle to upper-class? I don't think so. We have more than 300 million citizens in this country, many of which want to do the unskilled labor that is becoming more and more unavailable to them due to illegal immigration; outsourcing isn't helping, either, and only makes the mark illegal immigration makes in this sense even larger.
3) Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes, and leech from our government and American tax payers. An economy is a _cycle_. Money cannot just go in one direction. Illegal immigrants are benefitting from welfare, medical care, and jobs, yet they are not putting money back into the system by paying taxes. How long do you think our government can continue to support both the American tax payers and the millions (and quickly growing) of illegal immigrants at the same time with its only income being from American taxpayers?
Sure, illegal immigrants want to come here to feed their families. That is very noble. However, it is disgusting that they think they have the right to do that at the expense of the American people, without going through the procedures that every American citizen's family has gone through in order to become a proud citizen of this nation, and without so much as learning our languange? That is a slap to the face; one that our government is unfortunately not paying enough attention to.
Sorry, but that is a strawman argument.
Following the law is not being on a high horse.
What part of illegal don't you understand?
Edit: Yes. We have the responsibility to arrest and deport them in a humane way. Other than that You can take the responsibility for all of us since that seems to be the way you want it. This isn't personal. This is the law. Don't like the law? Vote for the representative that will change it.
Who wouldn't run to freebies if it were handed out on a silver platter. That's not what we are saying... We totally understand the reasons they are coming here; but does that mean we can't demand that our "current" immigration laws be enforced. What we want is for our government to smarten up & listen to what the American citizens want. If you think that is racist... then so be it... I can care less what you think anyway!!!
What a bunch of BS. Yes, i've been there ( as you put it ), no job, no place to live, and yes a wife and 3 kids to feed. I worked my way out of it, and did not break any laws doing so, oh and no welfare.
No I wouldn't. So, if that's a "high horse" so be it. I would have respect for their immigration laws.
How is someone a "spoiled, ungrateful citizen" if they stay home to fix their country instead of sneaking into someone else's country just for the money?
As for Americans, we are NOT doing the same thing the Mexican invaders are doing, so you have no point. You should have known that without being told.

Berrex:
I actually don't think you understand immigration...
You're 1st point: the US accepted just about everybody then...(except the Irish I guess since my family had to change their name to an English one to get in...) The reason it appears that they "adapted" is because as more and more generations are born here, they get more Americanized.
2) Illegal immigrants do not take jobs away from Americans. That is something made up by politicians to make you angry to get your votes. Have you ever found a reasonable amount of data saying how many jobs are taken from citizens? I just wrote a 20 page research paper on immigration and I looked. Most economists say it's just not true.
"3) Illegal immigrants do not pay taxes" -- this is not true either. Many get paid on the books and pay income tax just like everyone else.
I never once dangled money in front of someone's face to get them to come here. And you won't ever see me doing it either. If someone wants to come to this country, then need to go through legal channels. My father did, from overseas, at the age of 19. He was sponsored, had a place to stay, never had to commit crimes or use the welfare system to get by. He had jobs, real ones, starting with working in a nursery, moving and planting trees. He was taught enough English to start getting by on the job, and took English classes. He started work at a factory, hot job, but better money. He eventually opened his own business. Do you see any difference between that and coming over in a semi? Or swimming over?
Would I go off illegally to another country? Only if my life were in mortal danger at that very moment. Trust me, if I had some maniac after me, I would take off for Canada. Then try my best to get protection there. But to just come over and suck their system dry? Nope.

Don't try the "they don't get welfare, they have to hide because they are illegal" card either. They have fake papers. The biggest cost in coming here. They also cross to send their kids to our schools, but they reside in Mexico.
I might not be happy with how things go here in America all the time, but I try to change it, not go to another country and try to make it just like the same sewer I came from. Isn't America going to be even more grand when it is just like Mexico? They leave and want us to do things THEIR way. If you want it the way you had it there, stay there, things are already the way you want them.
Nobody is dangling anything, we send them back, they come right back across. I have earlier answers in questions similar to this one that explain in full.
I am not ungrateful for what I have, but if I decided I wanted what they have in Canada even more, I would go there LEGALLY, not cross in secret, hide and rape their system. And then demand that things be just like they were back here in the US. I don't call that being on my high horse, I call it obeying the laws of my country and that of other countries. It does happen to be ILLEGAL to come here without legal paperwork being done. I think that might possibly be why they are called "illegals".
Any other silly questions you want to ask me?
This is the best question ever! You wont get any intelligent answers from them though! They need them, but won't admit it!
I have had tough times where I lived on Ramen noodles alone for weeks at a time because I couldn't afford to buy anything more to eat and never once did I steal or break a law. So no, I wouldn't do the same thing and quite frankly i'm tired of hearing about how hard things are in Mexico, big deal, things are tough here too. Wah wah wah, take your bleeding heart elsewhere and don't even think about bitching when the plague hits your upper crust white fenced neighborhood!
If my family was in a third world country and wanted to come to America..We would do it the legal way. My parents raised me with morals. If I want a better life then I'm going to work hard and do it the right way. I'm not going to break the law and expect everyone to take it easy on me.
I know LEGAL immigrates that have came here the right way out of poverty. When they got here they respected our laws, learned our language, and flew the American flag.
If you want the American Dream than do what everyone else does...Wait in LINE!!! We have Laws for a reason.
MILLIONS left many countries in Europe, as did the PILGRAM FATHERS, quite a few left IRELAND also during the GREAT HUNGER of 1841/47.where would america be today if not for the influx of immigrants?? ELLIS ISLAND, i believe ,was the gateway to america for many of the immigrants, quite a few of their children made a significant contribution to their young, adopted, country, in literature, politics, science, education, medicine, are the MEXICANS doing anything different, from what the immigrants did 200yrs ago? even a 100yrs ago? what is the solution to the problem with the ,ILLEGALS, i dont know to be truthful. Perhaps if AMERICA was prepared to invest dollars in building factories, industries, in agreement with the mexican government to the mutual benefit of all on both sides of the border it would be a small step in allieviating the problems.
