Why do most normal Americans espouse racism when it comes to immigration?

There are many arguments for tighter immigration controls, not all of them are based on xenophobia of mexican nationals and blatant racist rhetoric. Why is it that most people use the simple, small minded arguments like "Dey'er E-Legals" instead of arguing against wage inequality? The fact is, if these farms and buisnesses had to pay immigrants the same minimum wage Americans received, they wouldn't bother employing illegal hispanic labor, because it wouldn't be profitable to do so.

Answer:
Because most are arrogant.
They don't, the pro-illegals use racism as a strawman.
not only do they need to get srious about illegals they need to fine the people that employ them and they should have their business seized and serve a mandatory 2 years in jail
I am against anyone who breaks the law regardless of his/her race. The issue is not one of what race most of the illegals are it is one of doing things correctly.

Everyone's a pacifist between wars. It's like being a vegetarian between meals. - Colman McCarthy
Its a sad state of affair that a country that claims to be for justice peace and equality is far from that there is still great inequality in America more so now than in the 70's. That's not to say that this isn't any country is prefect but America seems to claim to be prefect but nothing can be further from the truth
Unfortunately, a hispanic face has burned into the American public's eye when it comes to illegal immigration. The truth is that there are many illegals from more than just the Mexican border with white, black, asian, etc. faces as well. Racism doesn't even have a role when you look at illegal immigration as a whole.
normal americans don't, ultra-liberals do. And they do so because they have no good arguments on their side, so they make personal attacks on the other side instead
I think they get braiwashed
The rhetoric is by liberals that our (anti-illegals) arguments are all based on farm labor or work Americans don't want. That's just one small point. A person can come to California from who knows where and get free medical care. They also can get free housing assistance.

It's merely the pseudo-intellectuals' argument that wage inequity is even an issue.
racist about immigration? no!! go ask a legal immigrant what they think 9 of 10 think the illegals should take the proper channels too!
LMAO! The "racism" ploy is over, chump. We know where the real racism lies, and it's with the invaders and their supporters who think that just because someone has dark skin, they're immune to criticism for crimes.

The true racism is found in the Aztlan weenies and the National Council of La Racists, not in the Americans who oppose their crimes.

Actually, the reason some people are using simple-minded arguments against illegal immigration is because the problem really *IS* just that simple. Illegal immigration really is a violation of federal law but most of the pro-immigration advocates never seem to mention that little fact. Instead, they tend to talk around the issue and use BS arguments like racism, xenophobia and "they're doing work that you won't do". In my discussions with different people on immigration I can *NEVER* get anyone to talk about the fact that illegal immigration is against the law - they will talk about everything else *EXCEPT* that. It could be because to acknowledge it would make all their other arguments a moot point.
Racism is as American as apple pie.

Since the earliest days of settlement on the North American continent, the story of settlement, expansion and politics has been one of cultural group versus cultural group. Natives vs. whites, french vs. english, english vs. spanish.

During the great period of immigration during the 19th and early 20th centuries the focus for racism shifted to the growing cities as waves of immigrants and refugees flooded into the growing citites of the east and mid-west. They founded their own communities that reminded them of home and in some ways marginalized them form the greater society. Irish, italians, germans, poles all formed sub cultures within the greater whole.

That there are an estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the US, primarily from Mexico and Central America shouldn't come as that much of a surprise. They are simply the latest wave of people looking to better their lives, to capture the American Dream that your politicians are always droning on about endlessly all over the planet.

If your greatest export is promotion of your culture, why are Americans surprised when people want to live in their country at any cost? That the reality, once they get to the US might be starkly different, is irrelevant. They still consider it better than where they came from - before they ever come.

You ask why there is no argument against wage inequality by people who are against the flood of illegal immigrants, why the ugly specter of racism always comes into play.

The fact is that the loudest protesters against illegal immigration are hippocrites. It is easier to rail against the "threat" to American language and culture, than to admit the truth.

The truth is that Americans enjoy cheap labour, cheap produce, having house cleaners, pool boys, gardeners and all the benefits of that come with having a strata of society that is marginalized and willing to do anything rather than be sent back home. Many Americans look down on these people as though they are untouchables, but they wouldn't be in the US if there was no demand for them, or if they couldn't live once they got to the US.

Illegal immigration is a problem in the US that is self made, you have nobody to blame but yourselves.

On the bright side, it will likely be remembered hundreds of years from now as one of the greatest folk migrations of all time. History shows us that great movements of people across continents and political borders are nothing new. The great cultures and languages of the western world did not develop in a vacumn - they are the products of dynamic change from outside.
because theyre normal and you arent and you are making excuses for people breaking the law
Uhhhhhh. an illegal alien is not a race. And BTW it has nothing to do about immigration. Immigrants are legal.

Illegal aliens from over 100 countries were deported last year.
What many dont seem to understand is that most immigrants dont work for less money than we do. My mother in law works on a farm (she is an immigrant) she gets free rent and 300.00 weekly that is taxed. She makes more than me!
You suck...de-ported.
