What do you think of Immigration reform bill?
Answer:
In the present form, this new bill is completely against those legals who chose to abide by law, to play by rule and always put their trust in the US law based society.
I am in the USA for last 13 years, where came as a MS engineering student, brought my children with me. Now one child is 21 plus, done her graduation from a top ranking US university. Wife is also US degree holder. Except me, no one is allowed to work as the dependents of a legal, by law, can not work. We always followed the law in letter and in spirit. We all had been trapped in the retrogression, and had been waiting on this debate to happen.
Seeing the present bill draft is a shocker, a shame. This bill draft has to have some solution for the law abiding folks and their families who are trapped in the retrogression for years. US senate and congress should not just ignore the legals trapped in retrogression.
No matter how much lipstick they try to put on this pig of a bill, it's still a pig. I hope it goes down in flames.
I only heard a little about it, but i think its a good thing ( even though its W's idea )
accidently kelly street
I think this whole "deal" sux
I will vote for whomever will pledge to stop this war and stop these "deals" for illegals to come into the USA
NO AMNESRY FOR IMMIGRATION CRIMINALS!
its US OR THEM! and apparently the government has chosen THEM
It's not. But it CERTAINLY is NOT fair for our law going citzens. For some people to violate our laws and destroy our economy. Round 'em all up sometime they get two options leave or die. A may day parade would be a good time.
Pure BS, shows what the nuts in Washington will do for votes.
The bill stinks.
Put the illegals in jail- it's a crime to come into the U.S.
illegally, yes?
If you can't stop the illegals from crossing the border, CLOSE the border; and see how fast Mexico's government starts
policing it's own problem. They need us a heck of a lot
more than we need them.
From the bits and pieces that I have read so far on the bill those who are in process of becoming a citizen are rarely mentioned. It is a huge report and we have not seen the entire thing but it seems to focus on illegal immigration. Those who follow the rules seem to be getting very little attention so far.
Those who choose the legal route to citizenship and the taxpayer seem to be low on the scale of importance for this immigration reform (so far at least).
It is really unfair to the legal immigrants who already in the line to get their Green Cards. These people have come to US legally , followed laws , paid taxes & worked hard to be productive for the country .
Immigration reform bill is non commital in giving them the GC even thoug it is commiting to provided regularise 12 m illegals over the time. Also Immigration reform bill makes it difficult for these legal immigrants survival difficult by making the extension of H1bs very difficult.
In trying to fix immigration problems, no attention has been paid to focus on or resolve the mess that tax paying, hard working skilled aliens who are trapped in a never ending GC queue are in.
The majority of legal immigrants are among the wealthiest of the societies they come from. This bill gives a chance at a legal working environment for those who have no other resources to come to this country legally.
Most every illegal in this country would tell you they would want more than anything to be able to come here and work legally, they dont want to be seperated from their families back home, they want to work and thats all there is to it.
Since most Americans do anything they can not to have to work hard, there are serious lags in those industries that require hard menial labor, if you remove the only population wanting to take those jobs we will see our economy crash and burn.
A compromise is the only solution. This bill is not perfect but it is human.
let me get this straight. This bill will allow illegal's that are in gangs to renounce their gang membership (BS) and then become citizens, while Americans if they are in a gang or not get swept into one big rug and they crimes won't get forgiven and they can't vote if they are felons, but illegals get pardoned of all their crimes and gang history and can vote and can even drive no license and on top of that they commit crimes and get released.
I think its unfair when some of us naturalized citizens took an average of eight years to get citizenship and obey the laws and pay taxes and others are just gonna be spoon fed.
Very Unfair. People who have been following rules for years together and contributing positively to American economy are being left behind
It stinks! What we see here is an attempt to provide enough cheap labor to lower wages of Americans. The $5,000 fine is way too much for the average illegal to ever rake up. Here again we see a major disconnect from reality among our Representatives. Drug dealers can of course rake up the $5,000 easily... but Pedro working at less than minimum wage will be hard pressed to come up with the money.
The country already has immigration laws... we just don't enforce them due to the Corporate lobby & their contributions to our represenatives.
As for the number of illegals in this country... estimates are from 12 to 20 million, but the Corporate lobby keeps lowering the estimate & often uses 10 or 11 million when speaking of the number of illegals. (Chuckle) I expect to hear 3 million come out of Ted Kennedy's mouth before long.
This bill is actually pointing the way for citizenship for about 20 million people...all of whom have entered the country illegally. They would be given a small fine and a few other restrictions, then welcomed into the fold.
This was done once before with about a million illegal immigrants and did not stop the flood of people coming over the border.
They are very poor, in need of help, and have survived a desperate, life-threatening trip to the Promised Land. But to welcome them once again will simply mean that 20 million more will follow.
This doesn't even take into account the other nationalities who live and work here illegally, some of whom have been here for many years, have married, had families, and pose as American citizens.
One might ask just what in tarnation our Immigration Department has been doing. We have laws, but they have not been followed. In most cases, we have no idea where these people with expired visas have settled.
In the case of Mexican immigrants, it is like an invasion. They come here and demand their so-called rights, backed up by the many immigrants who have become citizens before them. They parade the streets, wave their flags, and insist upon amnesty. Our schools are filled with them, our hospitals give them free care, while Americans struggle to pay for health insurance or go without health care entirely.
What can we do? They take our jobs for cheaper wages, living twenty to an apartment, thus avoiding the high maintenance costs Americans pay. Employers hire them off the street corners, while Americans struggle with job losses and reduced salaries, while the bills mount up to Everest heights.
Politicians, pretending compassion, vote for Amnesty because they foresee millions of votes. It seems no one is looking after our country and its legal citizens. It is a sorry state of affairs when the poor of other countries can receive more compassion than our own poor, especially when our once-prosperous middle class is fading away.
Would it be impossible for Mexican citizens to wipe out the corruption in their own country and straighten out its problems, as our country did in its beginning years to escape the tyranny of England? Would it be impossible for them to parade in their own streets and demand some rights in the land of their birth? Would it be impossible for them to fight for justice and equality in Mexico, rather than demanding them here?
No one wants to be inhumane or lack compassion, but we cannot solve Mexico's problems by giving away our country's assets to its poor. Somewhere, at some time, Mexicans are going to have to face down corruption and demand new leadership, and there's no better time than now.
Send them home. Close the borders. Help financially when we can, and cheer their efforts to oust corrupt leaders and work toward a robust economy in Mexico.
Ok. I'm Mexican, but I'm not illegal and never been. I understand that there are people with different perspectives to this issue, but I really think about this in another way. I agree to disagree and viseversa. I think that foreign countries should work with USA on this bill, Mexico is not the only country that feeds us with immigrants. Each illegal's criminal record should be transmitted to the U.S when they apply for visa or if amnesty occurs (for any reason). This will determine if the person should be given the chance for residence. If they do have a criminal background in either country then they should be deported or booked, no mercy. I think this would be the intelligent way because the only people that are criminals are those illegal immigrants(internationally) that come to USA to commit crimes and things of that nature, and because of them, the majority of the others who come here to work, educate and live better who pay taxes like you and me are accused of being criminals.
I truly feel sorry for those people. they saved there money and waiting to come here and it's like a slap in the face for them. how hope like he!! that this country open up there eyes and look around and see the problem. and if it happens to pass i hope that each and every one of them feel the pain that each of us American citizens feels. and all the American citizen leave this great nation and go to another country with open arms and we will help them to break this once fine country. reform bills sucks. and it's going to make the problem worse and i hope those dumb *** see that, that so calls runs this country. and if i was the legal immigrates I'll be speaking my mind and want answer to this. that really all . could go on but won't. just wish we can put the top dogs in the is country a open your look at real America and what there own people encounter and the ones that trying to get here the right way.
This bill comes at a time when hundreds of thousands of legal people have been waiting for many years for the perm resident status (GC) and instead of addressing this matter first the bill concentrates on granting status to the ilegal immigrants. Immigration of highly skilled workers to other countries like canada is much faster and easier and it does not make sense for the world leader (USA) to favor ilegal migrations at the cost of legal.
This bill in the current form is very unfair for the skilled legal immigration process. Because of the retrogression we are struck in the process for so long time. The career growth, job mobility and qualify of life of these half a million legal skilled immigrants is subverted by the bill in its current form. Please address this skilled legal immigration first before taking any act on immigration bill.
Shamnesty Bill, will incite Armed Revolt if it passes.
I think the people in the white house should look upon the Legal immigration process and should try to clear the mess even before they can clear the illegal mess.
To be fair lets have the point system for both legal and Illegal immigration process. That way the system can be fair for both.
i hate the bill i wouldnt even use it to wipe my azz
Maybe all the "legals" waiting should cross over illegally, then they'll become citizens too. Who cares, I don't!
Just speak ENGLISH PLEASE. I've had it with Spanish.
It is very unfair to Legal immigration as it doesn't consider all those law-abiding people who are stuck in the Green Card backlog queue for more than 8 years.
I have nothing against the so-called "illegals" for they are people two. To me, Mexicans and Americans arguing about who are "the chosen" is as silly as Czechs and Slovaks arguing over the same.
Personally, however, after $000s, gaggles of lawyers, I'll be royally hosed.
After battling USCIS for over a year for this silly green card, they pull the rug out from under me.
It is ironic to me that since coming to the "land of the free", that I miss my freedom the most.
It will reduce the total number of Green Cards from 140k to 90k for LEGAL skilled immigrants. This bill is good for those who are crossing borders and breaking law and paying no taxes and becoming burden to this country. People who came here legally, who are higly skilled and paying taxes and waiting for their green cards for years will have no hope. This bill will send wrong signals to the world that this country embraces people who doesn't respect law.
