In America they do not recognise an engineer. They assess the job done and pay for it. That way you are a mechnic. Yes you are.
A mechanic is someone who repairs motors or engines and includes automobile mechanics, airplane mechanics, and small engine mechanics.
A Mechanic is a worker skilled in making, using, or repairing machines, vehicles, and tools.
An Engineer is one
1. One who is trained or professionally engaged in a branch of engineering.
2. One who operates an engine.
3. One who skillfully or shrewdly manages an enterprise.
This being so an Engineer cannot be called a Mechanic.
