California's Golden State Fence Co., which has a contract to build part of the United States' immigrant-impeding barrier on the Mexican border, agreed in December to pay fines totaling nearly $5 million because it had been employing illegal aliens. They should be banned from receiving Federal contracts. At the very least - the first $5 million should be withheld to pay the fine.
That's half the problem - the people who hire them because they don't have to pay taxes, FICA, Worker's Comp. (although THAT doesn't seem to matter, at least in New York), or provide them with HEALTH INSURANCE. No wonder it's so much more economically feasible to hire an illegal.
Hiring an illegal is Larceny in its White Collar form. The businesses are not stealing from the government - they are stealing from you. Why should a schmuck who cheats the Welfare Dept. for a couple hundred bucks go to jail and these guys not? Lock a few of them up and when they get out they can discuss it at their next Rotary Club meeting. I'll bet it lowers the rate of businessmen who hire illegals...

if your country jailed people who hire illegals 50 years for each one they hired, your illegal immigration problem would likely go away. at least try it for 10 years and do a comparison study, if I'm wrong go back to the system you have in place now.

I don't understand why you think these companies hate illegals. Illegals allow them to underbid their competition and make $. It's getting to be a big thing and about time. I really think everyone needs to obey all rules. If I break them, I go to jail. Why do some get away with it and some don't. Why do some people feel they can break the laws and get away with it. Gee, I only came here illegally. Well, gee, I only robbed a bank. Illegal is illegal.
We had something similar with a fellow from UKIP(UK Independence Party) - trying to keep immigrants out then importing Poles to work on his country house.
These companies need to be PROSECUTED.
This whole issue is nothing but exploitation on the part of those who would stuff their pockets by taking advantage of the disadvantaged - Mexican or U.S. citizens.
These same companies that utilize illegals to fatten their profits exploit U.S. workers as well. Which is why, every ten years or so, businesses resist increasing the minimum wage for American citizens........Businesses don't hate illegal aliens - they just depersonalize them and use them as tools to maximize profits. They don't care about the nationality of their workers - if they come cheap enough................
If we make a serious effort to control our borders, impose substantial penalties on businesses that hire illegals, and relentlessly hound ICE and our government officials TO DO THEIR JOBS, we should be able to solve this threat to our economy, and our grandchildren..........
