Is it possible for a US citizen emigrate to a European Union country? I'm thinking Spain or Italy...?

I am single with one minor child, and have a master's degree in education with an emphasis on linguistics.

Answer:
Of course its possible. Contact the consulate office for the country that you would like to emigrate to. You can find their addresses on google, and most are based out of washington DC. There will be certain requirements you will have to meet before you will be officially considered a citizen of that country, and I'm sure there are restrictions also. As far as I know, there is no ban on US citizens emmigrating to EU countries.
I'm pretty sure, why not? People who are worst off than you emigrate here, why shouldn't you be able to emigrate to a third-world country?
If hillary becomes president I wll join you...say in Paris
Unless you are thinking of living on the Costa del Sol in Spain, I would opt for Italy. It's a lot more cosmopolitan, with more options and benefits for a foreigner.

Just keep in mind that, at some point, you will need to apply for a long term visa. Make sure your passport is not going to expire in the next couple years; leave the U.S. with a passport good for at least 3-4 years.

Italy is so diverse. It's like 20 different countries all in one. Even though I studied Spanish for ten years, I would rather live in Italy than Spain.
sure, just apply to the country you want to emigrate.
You'll have to get in line behind all the Muslims.
