Do illegals really want to be U.S. citizens?
Answer:
I doubt that's a high priority with them. In whatever country they are fleeing, they probably weren't "citizens" anyway... in the sense that they could have any kind of input in the way things were run. They want the big bucks... that's it. No desire to become Americans.
They at least want the usual perks and bennies of being Americans, but, yes, many would be happy with residence. Really, residence is just citizenship delayed a generation - thier descendants will be Americans.
No, they just want the FREEBIES!
No. They want U.S. citizens to become Mexicans. I think once we are out of Iraq, we need to invade Mexico. That would solve everything!
Of course they want to be citizens, otherwise why would they be here. Things were probably very hard for them in their country, but even though it is still hard for them here it is less so because America is a freer country.
many would choose to become citizens, millions are happy with their status as resident of the US
maybe we ought to ask them?
serious! if they don't answer right- adios
but if they are sincere- we gotta take some of the heat for letting hop in here with no problem-
Illegal immigration is at least PARTLY US's fault
They could care less , except they want the freebies.
No - because then they would have to be responsible.
They just want to take all they can without giving anything back.
Yes. part of the reason there illegal is because of the limit on who can come in.
I guess they want to have a "legal status". Maybe the process is too slow and complicated and they opt for the FAST EASY ROAD (illegal).
I suspect many really do. Others however just want a free ride. As an illegal, they can readily acquire most labor jobs that pay at the end of the day in cash, thereby avoiding income tax. They are allowed to apply and receive welfare and food stamps adding to the drain on the system. They are allowed access to social security benefits (thanks to Jimmy Carter). I believe this is the primary reason Social Security is in financial trouble.
They have no real fear of deportation. Especially when half the country gets all teary-eyed when the subject comes up. They don't seem to understand that accepting millions and millions of illegals will eventually bankrupt the country. I understand that once legal, they (statistically speaking) tend to vote Democrat. So, accepting these million could conceivably mean the end of the Republican party, at least as a political power. That is until the Dems have nobody to blame but themselves for their failed policies. But I digress.
illegals already think they are U.S. citizens and that this CA is there country taken from them.
I think a legal status would suffice.
They sure do. My mom is a principal at a public high school here in California, and she has undocumented students whose parents dont pay taxes. My mom talks to those parents and the illegals would LOVE to pay taxes, but without citizenship, it's just too hard--they have to make sure the employer files their taxes for them or else the IRS gets nosey and leads to bad deportation-esk attention. Give them citizenship, they'd love to pay taxes in exchange for civil iiberties of being american.
According to the PEW hispanic research center the vast majority of illegals do not care about amnesty nor do they have any desire to assimilate in any way.
I think some may want to be US Citizens, but I think most just want to work and make some money here and then jettison back to Mexico as soon as they can. I think you are more or less right just giving them legal status should be enough so they can pay their fair share of taxes and we can start structuring rules and conditions for them being here.
No, just want money to send home.
