I think we (US) have some of the best immigration laws on this planet. Many will claim otherwise because we won't allow anyone (legally) in this country who has a criminal background or is a known gang member. But anyone who wants a better life and takes the legal route will be the one to tell you that those who claim the US is too smug or unfair are lazy, disrespectful individuals who couldn't care less about the country or its policies.
The ONE and ONLY problem I have when it comes to our laws is that they are not being strictly enforced. That is the problem.
I do not really see much of a problem with the laws. The problem is the people who do not obey the law and just come here anyway. Anyone who wants to come to this country legally and work has all my respect some one who comes here illegally has NONE of my respect.
We have good laws, all we really need is enforcement.
The U.S. has turned a blind eye to illegal immigration for so many years the the illegals accept as fact that this is their Country and they are entitled to all the rights and privileges of U.S. Citizens. They no longer feel they are breaking any laws simply taking what they believe belongs to them and we have tolerated so much for so long with our ultra liberal views have given them a sense of entitlement. it has now mushroomed so badly and the drug smugglers, criminals and other low lifes have taken it over.
Because we have tolerated this for so long they don't even bother to learn the language or enter legally.

Laws must be enforced by the USA government otherwise why have laws if they are not going to respect them. No amnesty.
This country is founded on immigration... lets set that point off right away. I am NOT against immigration to this country, and I feel we bend over backwards allowing many times more immigrants into the US than other countries allow into theirs.

There has always been "Illegal Immigration" The terminology has changed, but not the results. We recently have had a FLOOD of illegals come up from mexico, (recently meaning the last 20 years) At one point and time, it wasnt so bad, they would come to AZ, NM, CA, and TX... work for a while to bring in produce crops, and then return to mexico, for the most part. A few might stay back and hope to marry a citizen to become one themselves. (That happened in my family) But now there are upwards of 20 MILLION Unregistered, ILLEGAL, Immigrants in our country. These people have caused alot of strain on the economies of several states, yet no one really seemed to do the math to see why it was happening until it was too late. CA 15 years ago was in a budget crunch like no one had ever seen... The state of california on its own, has the 5th highest GNP in the world... yet it was going broke FAST. They knew why, but explaining it to people in non border states where they werent HAVING the same problem was next to impossible. They were being flooded in their hospital ERs with non american medical problems that the state was forced to pay for. They were forced to build larger schools and hire more teachers, and search for bilingual teachers at that for the flood of kids of these illegals who were now demanding free education. The cities all grew larger as extended families of illegal immigrants moved in, and so they were also forced to hire new cops, again with the added stress of finding bilingual cops. Soon after, AZ, NM, TX, CO, UT followed in the path of California... going broke fast. Now its just about every state.
It doesnt help when you have the now former president of Mexico telling his people that those very states, CA, UT, AZ, NV, TX, NM are all part of Mexico and that they should go back and reclaim it, nor does it help when the same ex prez goes and gives his people along the borders the BORDER GUARDS route and timing. They were told where to cross and when as a matter of state policy.
Our laws already on the books need enforced, but we also need a secure border to prevent further intrusions by this Army of Illegals. And no... no amnesty for the ones here already... they want to come here? they can do what OUR families had to do.. come here legally.. or dont come at all.
