Swedish moving to UK and Benefits?

My girlfriend is from sweden and she wants to move over to the UK permanently... Will she need to apply for permission? and will she be able to get her disability benefits in the UK?

Answer:
Swiss nationals are now considered under the Immigration (EEA) Regulations 2006, which defines Swiss nationals as EEA nationals. Their family members are considered as if they were
family members of EEA nationals.

This means that your girlfriend has the right to remain in the UK for three months initially if she is self-sufficient. After that she would have an extended right to remain in the UK as a qualified person (worker, self-employed, student, etc).

Only those who are married or have entered into a civil partnership are considered family members so she would require a right to reside in her own right.

Your girlfriend would be entitled to benefits once she is habitually resident in the UK, and in any event, only after the first three months. The habitual residence test does not apply to tax credits.
no
LOL - have you just read the question below that someone else has just asked about immigration?

"When is this country gonna open its eyes to the fact that we need to stop immigration and send some back?"

I'm sure you are trying to wind people up. Try asking Essex Ron.

Good luck!

PS I don't agree with the question above - I'm for free global movement of all populations.
Dr Kildare. get a grip if you dint like the question don't read it and they were talking about non wanted immigration not EU immigration.

my friend went to Sweden and he received benefits over there so i think there maybe some sort of agreement in place due to the EU. contact the social security and they will tell you how to go about it.
As an EU citizen you don't need a visa. Not sure about the benefits though.
I think if she qualifies for the benefits in Sweden and we have a reciprocal agreement with them, then she should be eligible to receive them here from her own government. She does not need to register, or obtain permission. She would need a National Insurance Number to receive any state help. To apply for any help in the UK, she would need to apply for the benefits and they would do a habitual residence test, I think. A National Insurance number interview would have to be requested by the Benefit section concerned. The best thing is to look on the Home Office website, check with the Swedish Social Security first to see if these benefits can be transferred and also obtain the necessary paper work form them first to allow this if relevant. She will be entitled to register with a GP in the UK free. She may however have to pay for prescriptions. Also you should look into Tax Credit help, if you are a 1 income low income family and also if she is disabled a blue badge. Try and get as much checked out before she comes, so that it is easy for the transition.
yes she will. if she is a genuine swedish national an not a somali invader. she will have the choice the swedish dla or british, she will not get paid any more for being in the uk. i like the swedish just not the ones that come form somalia etc, its a loophole that assylum scroungers after seeking assylum in one country can move on to the next and get residency aaaarrrggghhh
