Unless they were used in a crime and confiscated, or others (such as possibly landlords) had an interest in them, they belong to the illegal. I wonder about this, too. I believe everything they own should be confiscated as "proceeds from crime" or "ill-gotten gains." I think property, cars, etc. should be sold and any cash they have, bank accounts, etc. should be taken and put into a fund towards enforcement of our border and towards costs of deportation. I think they should leave with what they had when they came, the clothes on their backs, only.
