Now...do you find this video disturbing?

http://youtube.com/watch?v=ijwfz9achao&m...

The other video was from last year. This is from 2007.

Answer:
I believe the media should never be treated that way. A free press is necessary if we are to retain even our most basic freedoms.

As far as the LAPD and minorities, keep in mind that in 92 a lot of these guys witnessed a race riot that turned lethal. Participants in that event were killing whites who made the mistake of being alive. Neighborhoods were being burned, so were local businesses.

At one point there were asian small business owners on rooftops spraying with automatic weapons to defend their businesses from arson and looting.

Notice how the footage didn't show what turned the event violent? You don't know what the circumstances were that led up to the tear gas and rubber bullets.

As for our border policy with Mexico here's something to think about.

Mexico's border policy for Guatemala is to shoot persons crossing illegally on sight. No warnings. No detainment. No questions asked. Guatemalans are undesirables in Mexico, not unlike the bias many Americans have towards Mexicans here.

About a half mile away from the statue of Liberty there is a little place called Ellis Island. Where once upon a time all immigrants coming into the had to stop to be accepted into our country.

Bring us your tired, your poor, your hungry...etc.

It was understood by all that there were people we didn't want. People with contagious diseases. Rapist. Thieves. Murders. Gangsters. Counterfeiters. And so on.

I believe that work visas should be granted much more liberally than they are today. However I do not support general amnesty because many of the people in our county illegally were criminals in their homelands and then they though "hey if I'm gonna rob/rape/etc why do it some place really nice". In coming here to practice their craft they made America that much slimier.

Of course most people who are here illegally are not violent criminals. However we do have rapidly increasing violent crime rates in the southwest because of this issue.

I think any illegal immigrant here that commits a crime as heinous as driving uninsured should be sent home automatically.

I also think that persons here who support the "repatriation" of the southwest to Mexico should be treated as terrorist. This is an unfortunate growing trend within this community. An idea which has it's roots in revisionist history that the Mexican government feeds the weak minded because Mexico has allowed itself to become a parasite on the US economy.

Also every nationality that lives in the USA with the exception of Mexicans seem very eager to learn english since it is our native tongue. If the Mexicans here illegally want to become Americans like they claim, they could start there.

Sorry if this response is a little lengthier than you had hoped, but I read some of your other post & I think you are intelligent. However incredibly biased on this issue.
It is quite disturbing...reminds me of China or Russia
Yes. The sad thing is that I thought I was watching the vieo from last year, but it is this year. again.
I have actually seen that clip on the news yes i did find it quite disturbing and even tough the police were doing their job i dont think they should have been so rough with the people
wow. very disturbing to say the least
not really the police are just doing there job
Nope.
no...they are probably just mad because half of those people are probably illegal immigrants and are running around in our streets and expect to be treated equally if not better than u.s. citizens.
That was a peaceful protest its in the american constitution its there right to gather for protest the LAPD shouldent of had there swat teams there shoting rubber bullets and batoning people for exercising there freedom of spech its just ludacris
It's disturbing on more levels than one.

First and foremost.is this what the American people are going to get "use to" when ever we disagree with our government? Is this what is going to start happening when we protest?

I know that she admitted that the police were provoked...but they should have arrested the provokers not done what they did.

I honestly think that there is going to be more occurences of police acting in this way. This is how they are trained now. They are not "American people" they are nothing more than part of the government that does what the government says. What I am trying to say...they distance themselves FROM the American people. It's actually quite scarry.

I don't think that it matters what the legal status is of those that were there. If this was ICE conducting a round up or any other law enforcement doing a job that NEEDED to be done, it would have been a different story.

I think that this just shows the American people that capabilities of the police and our government. This was minor in comparison of what they could do.

We need to start watching our government. They are NOT for the American people as some people think that they are.
Yes it is very disturbing. Must be why two of the LAPD got in trouble. They could not even respect the media!
Yes, I find it disturbing.

I am glad that the FBI are looking into it.

Also, for the comments as all those people being illegal. That is absolutely not true there was a lot of people from the Latino Community, community leaders, organization groups, church leaders. What because a person looks stereotypical "Hispanic" that makes them an illegal? I really don't know why people on this form think all Latinos/Hispanics that protest are illegal.

The police where provoked by anarchy people not the people protesting immigration reform.

Not to mention the police used force on the press, now that's just nuts!
those beeners deserve that. they shouldn't be here in the first place. they should be were they belong,Mexico.
Yes. Only an idiot would just stand there when to cops say move out. Does what the cops say give the press immunity from what they say>
That was not a peaceful protest. People went to many locations like that looking for trouble, and they found it. Throwing rocks at police keeping the peace more than justifies their breaking of such a riot.
Any illegal immagrent can be a person who could be a killer from their own homeland who came here to escape, a terriest from anouther country, or a family.

they cross the border and have kids here, they know the risks if they get caught.
I cant wait until they pass a law making it to where they cant get a job here if they are not registered. They are taking jobs for lower pay and where does that leave us? We alone are having problems in our own country, we dont need to take on anouther counrties population where they will work more for less pay, leaving americans struggling.

It's their goverments fault for not taking care of it own.
We have enough problems with Bush in charge.
All our money is being wasted on a lost war and taxes going up, we cant afford to lose our jobs to people who work more for less.
" There was no order to disperse " I'd say an officer saying back away, or , Move! is a pretty good indication of what the police officers intended for every one to do. Always listen on the street, and fight the man in court! i was not there and i doubt that any other responders about the video were there to here and see what all took place so all of the responses are opinions. I say watch the court hearings about it and thank God that you ain't in some other country were protesters are killed
Whats disturbing is that while we are here going back and forth at each others cultures for being Mexican,Mexican Americans,etc-etc. Who really are or were neighbors. Certain groups from thousands of miles across the world who really want to cause chaos may be easily creeping in or may already be here. And God forbid something like 9/11 or worst happen in a split second. And that being said would we then be able to agree that it was all a waste of time? So many times America has been targeted and so many times Americans then ask how could that have happened.
About the video? That type of * occurs daily in prisons across the US! As does this type of horseplay.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulrflgkzo...
Hope that all you players are ready for the rude awakening.
LAPD cross the line with these actions that took place last week.
