This is a huge point with me. It only screens out those with THREE misdemeanors (including DUIs) or an AGRAVATED felony, and gang membership isfine as long as you sign something saying you won't be in one any more.
This bill is riddled, however, it isn't just a matter of one point or five. It seems intentionally designed NOT to succeed at reducing illegal immigration. It even cuts the fence already signed into law in half.

Oh, wicked, that simply isn't true. Law gets signed and they apply day one. Day 2 government has to be done with its 24-hour-only time period for a background check and they are legal UNTIL such time as the triggers go into effect, which frankly may be never.
wicked, in effect it is. It is a 24 hour turn around maximum. The Z visas and that entire process isn't triggered until the triggers are met.

To answer the question, I think illegal gangbangers should be lined up and shot - let God grant them "amnesty".
In part what you're saying is true but there are also many provisions which have to occur for this to happen and much stiffer penalties for an infraction of the limits put on former gang members.So what you're saying is true but incomplete.
See - this is one of the many reasons why AMNESTY is a very,very bad idea.

That's NOT the way to solve this or any other problem for that matter. Problems are solved by looking at them in TOTALITY -- This problem is not as simple as some would like to make it.
America has been a beacon of hope over the years, and it should stay that way under reasonable constraints.
Even a pro-immigration person like me doesn't want any "felonious moron" living next to me.
On the other hand, there are millions of immigrants who are already working hard and would love to come out of the shadows to contribute positively -- help make America even stronger.
The Senate Bill is a BILL -- Yes, BILL -- still subject to debate and amendments.
It a starting point for debate, and by not allowing debate nothing will be solved.
"Hard line" and "Soft line" must be meshed to reach a compromise Middle Ground, otherwise the alternative is NO BILL, NO SOLUTION -- just empty bigoted rhetoric going nowhere, detention Gulags -- and of course: The Gangs will still be roaming around free.

No they shouldn't. If they do, why not just give a pardon to each and every gang member with citizenship sitting in jail for serious crimes? It makes just as much sense to me,it's ridiculous.
