The illegals were coming in masses across the Mexican and USA border, illegal Americans.
If these illegal Americans were living and working and marching in the street of Mexico with the US flag and the Mexican Flag up side down and shouting racist themes toward the Mexicans and demanding rights just like any other Mexican citizen.
Could you pro illegals and Mexicans, La Raza, ACLU, Mr Ted. Kennedy and gang in the US Congress, tell me what will happen.

First, the expression is, what if the shoe was ON the other foot.
Second, if americans were working there illegally, then I think the mexican government has every right and needs to enforce their laws on illegals.
But somehow, I don't think it would take long for americans to stop crossing the borders.
Have you seen the prison system there? Do you know for a fact what happens in those places? Our prisons here in the US are like vacation retreats compared to mexican ones. The laws there are enforced more harshly than here. Unlike here, they take action first, then ask questions later.
Perhaps if we adopted a few ways they handle things......well, perhaps our own illegal problems would slow down some.
Mexico would never allow it. Look at how vigorously they defend their southern border.
I have traveled in Mexico for years, and I can tell you, our American butts would be in the darkest jail with no hopes of getting out unless a really sharp lawyer could offer a Mexican official a decent bribe. I actually had the door panels of my car taken off and searched at the border. What they were looking for, I have no idea. But you can believe I was shaking !!
The main difference is that if you pay Mexico you can do whatever you want, legal or not, all Mexico cares about is money. You can enter there and start a business, legal or not, and as long as Mexico is getting their cut, you have nothing to worry about,,,plain and simple,,,they have no morals and no respect and only care about money flow.
Well it would be the same. Mexico as a rich country would have bunch of liberals defending illegals. Some Conservative hispanos would be against immigration. Reverse spanglish would be the language.

If it was the other way, the illegal people going into Mexico should be put in prison, deported, etc.... They shouldn't get rights, benefits, citizenship, etc..
BTW, if the shoe was on the other foot and I was poor and "wanting to build a better life for my family" - I WOULD NOT GO TO ANOTHER COUNTRY ILLEGALLY. I WOULD WORK TO GO LEGALLY!!! I am an honest person. I am not a criminal.
