Valid student visa for to apply work permit ?

Hello all,
This question is for my friend.

I am on student visa which expires on 31 july 07, I have heared that to apply work permit through any company you have to have atleast 3 month valid visa otherwise you cant apply work permit, Is it true ?
How can I get extension on student visa if I have already finished my studies ?
OR is there any other visa i can apply for this situation ?

You have to have a 3 month extended stay visa to apply for a work permit, and you also have to find a job. It is very difficult.
