My husband is South African and has been in the uk now for 3 years 10 months. He is about to apply for 'Indefinate Leave to Remain' in the uk, and just wondering, has anyone had any difficulties being granted this visa? How easy/difficult was it to get it approved and how long did it take. We have been married for nearly 2 years and we have a 3 month old little girl. He works full time and pays his taxes etc...Any info would be great!

I did this about 3 years ago with no problem. However we were married for 29 years.
They do say that he should be married to a Brit and live here for 3 years so I'm not sure if they will count the time before he was married.
It took about 5 months for them to send me my naturalisation certificate.
I went to my tax office and requested a letter to state that I have worked all the time I have been here and paid NI for that time, I think this helped.
The South African consulate stripped me of my SA citizenship and requested that I hand in my passport and ID, You can get around this by applying to keep the SA citizenship BEFORE EVEN applying for Brit status.
I handed my passport back with pleasure as I will never go back to that sewer.
