What do you think of Texas idea to stop children of non us citizen getting automatic citizenship?

I think it's a very good idea whose time has come. Just because you step across the border to calve doesn't mean you should be able to stay.

Have not heard of this. I believe it will not be up to a state government to do this. It has to be a Federal law. But I think this is a terrible thing. I know one has to contain illegal immigration but not at the cost of the principles of a great nation.
I am in favor of this idea, to an extent. The idea of granting citizenship to the child of legal noncitizen residents is still likely a good idea. However, granting citizenship to a child of a woman who made it across the border just in time to have a child is an abuse of the spirit of the law.

I think it's only right to stop one of the main reasons so many pregnant women from Mexico and South America come into the U.S.... it's a GREAT IDEA.

I think it will help deter illegal immigration but the cost to the kids may be too high.
I think an alternative [e.g. seizing the parents/relatives bank accounts/assets] to fund this child's health, education and upbringing is more plausible and would not detract from this countries ideals.

I recall just after 9-11 ppl from Iraq were busted for flying into America having there kid and then going back.
Free medical and an American kid.
We brought it into Ireland a few years back to stop people abusing the system. It's a pity because it really is a good ideal but with so many abusing it it needed to change. Now if you don't have at least one Grandparent of Irish decent you don't qualify.
A great idea and it should be implemented all over the Nation. This is being used as a tool by the illegal aliens to stay in the USA and get government aid and that is wrong.

A pregnant woman from any country can enter the United States a few days before she is to give birth with a visa card,stays with a relative,friend or in a boarding house. When she feels the pains she is taken to the hospital to give birth,usually with no insurance...
Guess who pays for that ? And once the baby is a U.S. Citizen,they establish an address to use in the states.This is usually a relatives house,a friends house or they might pay someone with a residence.After that, they qualify for food stamps and welfare to care for the child..They can travel to their country and back.But most go back to their country and live very well with tax payer money and benefits(U.S. Government Monies and Benefits).And at a certain time all the family can become a U.S. Citizen(brothers sisters and parents).Someone should look into this policy.
The wife of the President of North Korea could visit the USA, have a baby and that baby gets citizenship. It could get elected president. I think it's a great idea.

In Brownsville, Texas, pregnant women slip across the border to the American ER. Now they have a little American citizen, but it costs nothing, too ! How great is that !! They just get detained for a few hours, and back to Mexico they go. Why pay a doctor in Mexico $ 500 ?? At least one parent should be an American citizen before the child can be awarded citizenship in the USA.
