i am a nursing student here in the philippines. i will be in my last year this year. i was recently issued an immigrant visa which expires in november. i plan to go to the US for the 1st time this month when summer classes end to spend 2-3 weeks vacation with my wife. will i be facing a problem in my planned re-entry to the US in October? i mean, do i need to do/file something? am i right in presuming that i only need the green card and my passport? pls. help.

If you have a green card, you do not need to renew your stay. While here, make sure you renew your visa to stay with your F1 visa student OK. Send the request for renew (I-539) with certified mail at list 2 weeks in advance because it can delay and if it gets a day there after expiration date, then u became technically illegal! It happen to me and it was a nightmare because even thoug I put in the mail before it expired they receive after so expend money on Sedex is even better. Good luck!
