I think that is your typical excuse from realtors in order to try to milk more money. Blame it on the immigrants. It's apparently not okay to refuse someone service so instead they cowardly increase property values and calim that it's the immigrants fault when that is a lie. It's an opportunist at work.
I'm not sure about UK prices but in America prices have rose so high that you'd think your average american can afford half a million dollars to lavishly throw down on a home that is sub par and looks like crack house.

If there is a problem with the price of housing, it has nothing to do with immigration and everything to do with the way money is created.
Banks create money when people take out loans and mortgages. When you put your signature on a loan agreement or Mortgage, that signature is the most valuable piece of the transaction, because your promise to pay is what makes the money come into existence. Before you went into the bank to ask for the loan, no money. When you agree to pay £200,000 for the house, £200,000 plus interest is now created from thin air. The only limit to the amount you can borrow is the amount you are able to pay the bank. As there is no limit beyond your ability to pay, you will be lent as much money as they can squeeze out of you.
What would happen if you couldn't borrow as much as you wanted from the bank to pay those extortionate house prices? Well, they would have to come down to a level where you could afford them. And that's the rub. All the time people are prepared to pay these inflated prices, they will continue to rise.
Put the blame where it belongs, the greedy banks who want your money plus interest, and the real estate sharks who benefit from high prices.
Did the property sellers complain? and at last we got skilled hard working tradesmen.
Without immigrants, our economy would suffer.
The beauty of research is that (by using it selectively) one can make anything sound plausible.
Property prices are driven by wealthy people investing in property and by the shortage of housing. As has already been said, the link doesn't work anyway. Groups like Migration Watch, rather like the far more extremist and dangerous BNP, use "research" like this to give credibility to their extreme views.
Me? I don't accept that immigrants have caused an increase in property prices, not for one second. It's just fuel for racist arguments.

This is a bogus argument...I think you will find that it is the people who accepted the large profit on their house when they sold it that causes property prices to increase.If you had bought a house 5 years ago would you sell it for the same price now to an immigrant or anyone else? No...so blame the homeowners who sell the properties, not the people who have to find the money to buy them.If we want to reduce house prices then don't sell them for so much..
It's strange, where I live it has been swamped by illegal immigrants and unfortunately bad behaviour and crime. Property prices are down £20,000 - £40,000 as a direct result of the criminal and unsocial elements.
If anything you may find that immigrants may have propped up the buy to let market by flooding the rental market.
I wouldn't trust anything by 'Migrationwatch'.
Houses are just like any other product, when DEMAND outweighs SUPPLY prices go UP.

this mass immigration benefits one group of people only. the wealthy. If you owned 10 factories who would you employ, British who work for £10 p/h or polish who will work £5.50 p/h and accept any conditions forced upon them. If Immigration was affecting the middle/upper classes you would be amazed at how quickly it would be dealt with.
