Green card & Social security card?
Answer:
You need to apply for your social security number at social security administration. Make sure you bring your authorization (green card) and your passport. You must have both and if you have an original birth certificate bring it as well, or if it is not English and had an English translation you must bring it also. Because of the new legislation - SSA will send a verification to the Dept of Homeland Security (DHS) to make sure that your green card is legitimate. It may take up to eight weeks for your SSN card to be issued (depending how fast DHS can verify your green card). Good luck.
