Australian Customs films through peoples clothing for contraband. Does any other country use this technology?
I know the chip was released by accident 3 to 5 years ago in Toyko in Sony Video cameras. People didn't want to hand them back because it was a voyeurs dream - yes you see EVERYTHING! I wondered if anyone out there knows if its in widespread use ion other countries
Yes - metal underwear does prevent them seeing wnything but then you can be given the full cavity body search which is much more embarassing.

The US is testing it but I don't think tapes are being made. That would pretty much kill it here.
I went back to Australia in 2002. Whilst waiting for my luggage, a cute little sniffer dog kept hanging around my backpack. The security guard in charge of this canine asked me if I had any food in my bag and I told him no.
When I got on the domestic flight, I opened my bag to get a book out and to my horror, I realised I had kept a bag of nibblies from the Japanese Airlines I had flown in on. I felt soo bad that I did not remember but then, I figured, if his dog kept sniffing, the guard should have requested he check my bag.
Anyway, this chip you speak of, wouldn't it have picked up the fact that I had a bag of nibblies in there? Just wondering. Sometimes I think about how I brought that bag of nibblies in from off that flight and it makes me feel guilty. I could've been responsible for a foreign nibbly epidemic or something! :-(
Australia is the only country to tell muslims to get out if they cant believe in the ways of Australia. We should follow suit with Illegals and muslims. They are the destroyers of the world!!!
I think this is more of an urban myth.
From what I have seen (and I have been through Australian customs many times) there are always a couple of sniffer dogs around the baggage claim. On top of that everyone (including Australian citizens) has to complete a customs declaration about what they are bringing into the country, i.e. food, natural products, etc..., if you answer YES to any of these questions a customs official will search your luggage. If you say NO to all of them your luggage is still x-rayed before you leave the baggage hall.
There is only so much you can hide under your clothing and really, if you were going to take the risk would it be for salami and cheese? Obviously developing such a chip would be an expensive process - would the Australian government really go to all the expense for products that sniffer dogs can easily pick up?
