You know, a handful of churches, led by a group of liberal priests and ministers and you try to drag the religious right into it.
First of all, the people who are against illegal immigration are not all Christian conservatives.
Secondly, there are differences between the Catholic church and the protestant sects. Lutheran is a protestant sect, and the closest to Catholicism. But, one of the factors with the protestant sects, especially those that are farther away from Catholicism along the spectrum is that they are not political bodies, and are not followers of the Pope.
Christian churches, regardless of denomination, will offer sanctuary to anyone who's life is in threat. But, some will not harbor criminals.
were talking about two of the most socially liberal denominations on the planet. the roman catholic church and the lutheran church. they'll give sanctuary to child molesting preists, why wont they let another kind of criminal hide out for a while.
