Immigration ????

im a british citizen , born in england....
after retirement i wish to immigrate to either ,
united states of america or the netherlands ..

can you tell me the requirements for each country ?
legal requirements ? financial requirements ? etc etc ?

also cost of living , food , fuel ,houses , taxes , food, etc etc?

can you reccomend any good sea side locations to move to ?

Answer:
Well, the USA isn't all it's cracked up to be. To be a US citizen, you have to be able to know a lot about the history of the US and the process is about 8 years. A requirement is to have lived 8 years to be a citizen it may be three. Anyways, Gasoline costs about $3.00 average, food is about $4000 a year, houses range from $50 thousand-1 million dollars. Taxes depend on you income, etc. If you like plains, move to Oklahoma, Ohio or Texas. Deserts: Arizona, Texas, New Mexico, and California. Hunting and mountains move to Montana or Alaska or Wyoming up through there. If you like forests and country living, move to Alabama, Georgia, Tennesee, and N./S. Carolina. If you just like beaches move to Florida or somewhere on the East coast or West Coast.
thinking of the same idea (migratign to a different country nto uk), i'll let you know if i ever find out
United States is 50 small countries each with its own ups and downs. So to go through all that would take forever. However are taxes are less than england and the dollar is lower than the pound. Netherlands is the same.

Best bet go to both and go from there.
You have alot of reading to do and research to do.
With the netherlands Queen and country won't be far from you.
For Holland, as an EU citizen there are no requirements. You can get your pension paid to you over there. Not sure if you would be able to get any Dutch benefits, probably not. Just go over there and check it out, how you like the life there, and think about how you are going to find yourself somewhere to live. Of course, it would be common sense, and common courtesy, to learn Dutch. If you start to suffr ill-health, will you be happy in a Dutch hospital - I know they all speak English, but still it might be uncomfortable.

As for the States, you're going to need a visa which you wouldn't get without substantial assets or a good returement income - and remember that healthcare is either really really expensive or really really poor. check with the US embassy for visa requirements.

Good luck!
Europe is your only chance
forget about US,Australia or Canada
You will be only able to come as a tourist in the U.S. under the visa waiver program for 90 days. Sorry you cannot immigrate in the U.S.
Lordy, it's as bad here as it is there! But if you come legally, we'll welcome you.
Well,i don't think we can be of much help here since things are always changing in the above mentioned countries, mainly cos of immigration and migration issues, moreover we don't know your age now and when you will be retiring since cost of living can also change in these countries over a couple of years and as for the price of fuel the least said about it the better, good luck all the same
