What are ur thoughts or point of view on the rules of engagement along the US-Mexican border?

Right now, the way the Rules of Engagement stand along our southern borders, our military is little more than watchdogs. I'm in Arizona and what happened along that border may very well have been a test to see what exactly the military would do if they were approached.
The Rules of Engagement need to be changed, and quickly. The National Guard should be able to protect our borders, along with the Border Patrol. They should be able to arrest and detain any illegals they come across. They should be able to shoot if shot at. What good is having our military along the border if they can't do their jobs?
Put some severed illegals heads on sticks along the border. They will get the idea. Round up all the illegal aliens into freight trains, and ship them down to Mexico City.
Just turn the border into a military base.. then they can shoot every criminal that walks into it.
I read where the pro legal are wanting all agents unarmed and to contact 9-11 for any law enforcement help. I also thought to be given mental's for running away was a concept, but it did happen.
When another 9-11 happens the people will understand the border is not just poor people seeking a better life there are all kinds of people with different intentions such as drug smugglers who are armed and dangerous and they will shoot to kill just as they do in Mexico the rules of engagement do not suddenly change once they cross over.But people want a open border with unarmed human shields out there to protect the border. Bush seems to back that belief. Until another attacks takes place the open border lobby will protest any agent even carrying a bullet in the pocket as dangerous as WMD.
IMO it is time for this government to either, SHlT or get off the POT.
I am retired military. And I am damn glad I am. Armed forces retreating from thugs, what next? I know let's build rest areas and staff them with Vegas show girls. Lots and lots of ice cold drinks and fresh tacos. We might as well make the trip comfortable we are sure making the stay good enough that they don't go home.

They need to engage anyone crossing the border illegally. NOW!
Thet don't have to kill, but they should if they are fired upon. I've had enough of the double talk from our inept government, people are fed up.
I say all illegal immigrants should be deported.
I think that it's completely pathetic that we can't even defend this country.. But what's more absurd is the fact that when our Border Patrol agents shoots in self defense, they get the shaft and sent to prison - while on the other hand, an illegal immigrant that shoots at a Border Patrol officer isn't punished.
The USA is our country. We have a right to defend ourselves - that includes defending ourselves from the drug cartel, terrorists, or illegal aliens who are trying to get into this country.
If Mexico doesn't like it - tough sh!t. No one is tryin' to go to there illegally to rape the system and get a free ride.
Shoot any thing that comes across the border. A 2000 mile long, 1/2 mile wide minefield wouldn't be a bad idea either.
Either do like we did with Korea and lay landmines, or install motion sensoring M60 machine guns with 180 degree rotating axis!
