Wow you people who responded are a bunch of idiots who dont know about mexico. mexico has a midle high income and 20% of mexico is rich and 45% of mexico is midle class and 35% are poor you dont know anything go to chihuahua or someting thats what i hate you only think of mexico as a poor country and thats a lie theres a lot of wealthy and midle class too. i live in chihuahua chihuahua mexico come to chihuahua and youll see that almost all of the populasion is midle class theres wealthy people too.
What about Cuba's economy ?

In Capitalitic nations you will find rich and poor people. Ignorant or educated people, brown, black, yellow, or white people.

There are poor people in every country, i dont, however, believe that Mexico is as poor as they would like us to believe.
and they can always come up with the money to pay some coyote to bring them here instead of moving to a better part of the country that has these jobs and perks. I've said it before-mexico is urging these people to come here why, they want the undesirables out and that's what we have here!!
I asked the question a while back as to why illegals came here. I wondered if they were terribly poor, etc. They said no, they were middle income but wanted something better. These people were not poor. Some of them just ran out on their debts and came here. Therefore, they don't want to go home. Another reason American corporations don't want them to leave is that they have made loans to them to buy homes, cars, etc.
My daughter was there with her Mexican husband for two years and what you are saying is true . She said she didn't see anyone starving . Even the ones on farms had plenty of food and went to town to sell produce every day . In the house that her husband's family lived and built , they had bathrooms , modern appliances and granite counter tops . They unplugged the refrigerate during the day , so they bought food every day , to have fresh food for every meal . There is no leftovers kept . Every one worked and all the men had jobs , women stayed home and did house work or visited . They were average people , just like everyone else in that town .

But they still came to America illegally to work and send money home to save for when they retired . In MEXICO you can live on $ 20,000 for years .
The family came two ways , the father and two sons came by coyote through AZ , mother and son flew into Iowa , illegally .
most of the illegals are not comming from the big cities, most are comming from the smaller towns where they would have none of that stuff.

Zapata doesn't read. As for the Chiapas, the reason why they are so poor is racism. THey want to become an autonomous state. Frankly I think we should put pressure on Mexico to let that happen. I agree. I keep hearing how the Mexicans are starving, but according to the surveys, they have a reasonably low level of malnutrition. It could be better, though.
