I hold US citizenship, but live in Canada. I'd like to apply for a SSN # , must I go to US to do this?

Answer:
If you are a US citizen you already shut have a SS# , what are you talking about, do you know that you need to have a SS# in order to obtain your US passport?, so i don't understand your question.
if you would like a U.S. Social Security Number, you must apply at a U.S. local social security office. If you live in Canada you must travel to the U.S. - possibly to a border city like Detroit.
