Should U.S. Border Patrol Officers Be Imprisoned For Shooting At Illegal Mexican Alien Drug Runners?
Answer:
I think it stinks. It seems that there is a pattern here - look at what they're doing to our military men...prosecuting them for doing their job by killing the enemy because of political correctness.
What is the real reason for this witch hunt of our border agents and soldiers, and for burning them at the stake?
I have voiced my concern about this at the White House, asking President Bush to pardon BOTH the border agents and the soldiers, and am planning to contact my congress people, as well. I URGE EVERYONE TO DO THE SAME.
There is probably a similarity here to the Duke so-called "rape" prosecutory debacle, as well.
America is a free country, I really don't have an opinion
Unjust.
let them go.. so they may protect and serve
i think its bull****,if you arent american get the hell outta here,go back where ya came from,we dont need you spics....just my opinion
Those convictions were the work of an overzealous prosecutor trying to make a name for himself. I saw him try to explain himself on the Factor this week and he was pathetic.
If they were smart they would not have been caught.
Mexicans take over your house and throw you out...... coming soon to a town near you.
Border Patrol officers should be able to........ um........ PATROL THE BORDERS!!!!! I want them to shoot at every freaking illegal that crosses the border and throw their taco-filled hides back to Mexico.
yes, if that person is not armed and dangerous.
No, but unfortunately our elected officials signed a pact stating that the border patrol will not shoot at illegal immigrants crossing. That goes for those transporting drugs as well. We have some brain surgeons in Washington and they live on both sides of the isle.
Those "illegal aliens" for the most part, are just looking for a better life. Were they shooting at the officers? Or were they unarmed and just doing something to make their life better? Is there something we can do to help these people so that they don't feel they have to be "drug runners"?
Let me tell you something. My 21 year old son, Mexican-American, was driving to Colorado from San Antonio and was stopped by Border Patrol in the panhandle of Texas. They took his car completely apart. When they realized he wasn't a "runner," they sited him for having an expired sticker (on the windshield which they couldn't see from their hiding spot behind the billboard). They spoke cruelly to him and fortunately, my son had the good sense to say yes sir and no sir. But, he told me his car was completely taken apart and they left him like that to put it back together.
He had a cell phone and AAA so he called them, me and an attorney.
What gave those officers the right to do what they did? Just because he was young, mexican-american and a "possible" runner?
Sorry, I disagree. Officers are not judges and shouldn't act as such. They belong in prison if they were shooting at illegals for any reason. They got what was coming to them.
sounds like they broke the law to me,since when are they jury and executioners.
First I applaude the 55 Senators that have spoken in favor of the two border patrol agents. Secondly I am not surprised Bush has taken so long to address this injustice..the White House admits to receiving over a quarter million letters asking for amnesty for the agents. Bush, in his presidency has never sided with working class Americans over illegal immigrants in our country. In my mind he has taken his oath to uphold the constitution very lightly. Thirdly, I think the people in the Justice Department who prosecuted this case should be disbarred and perhaps prosecuted. The Federal Judge that ruled against them being free until after the appeals should be taken off the bench.
The saddest thing in all of this is with 300 million in our country that the White House only received a quarter million letters! Why are we so complacent when it comes to holding our government accountable. Never in our history have the rights of the working class been so compromised. We must stand up to our governments when the rights of others are threatened..it may be you or I next! In this day of political correctness the only ones whose rights are being threatened are middle-class Americans and the working poor. We must loudly say no to any form of amnesty for the illegal aliens in our country...amnesty was given in 1986 look what that got us - 20 million more illegals to rape our schools, hospitals & welfare....not to mention our children! In a recent HSC report on illegal crime against Americans by illegals it was noted 8 American children were molested EACH DAY by illegals. If Americans don't care enough to protect our country we should, at least, protect our children and grandchildren.
Americans must demand our government protect Americans first!
Attrition thru strict local, state & federal enforcement
No Amnesty by any name
Repeal the 14th Amendment
Let our government hear from YOU THE TAXPAYER....

No, but they SHOULD have been disciplined for falsifying their accounts / reports of the event. Failing to report discharging a weapon which would carry a 5 day suspension.
The Federal Prosecutor was WAY out of line though...
Our Border policy is SO FUBAR as to be comedic if it wasn't so tragic
They were convicted by a jury of their peers. Not a perfect system but the best we have. Unless there is an issue with the evidence or with prosecutorial (mis)conduct, they have been validly convicted until overturned on appeal.
As a civilized nation we do not allow the same person to police and to act as judge, jury and executioner.
I am so morally outraged that there are no words to describe how I feel! NO ONE should EVER have to go to jail for doing their job! American youth are dying, bleeding carnage in our cities and towns, poisons being pumped across the border like the stink of rotting garbage, and George Walker Bush and his lies is the pus that is spreading throughout America, from the suppurating moral decay of the Republican Party!
President Bush is still considering a pardon and said the pardon process takes time.
In a Capitol Hill press conference, Congressmen Walter Jones, (R-NC), Ted Poe, (R-TX), Tom Tancredo, (R-CO), Dana Rohrabacher, (R-CA), and Duncan Hunter, (R-CA), among others, voiced their dismay at how the agents had been treated by the U.S. criminal justice system. Border Patrol Agent Jose Compean and his wife, Patty Compean, thanked the members and all of their supporters for working so hard on their behalf. Also there in support of the agents were: Andy Ramirez, President of Friends of the Border Patrol; T.J. Bonner, President of the National Border Patrol Council; and Rich Pierce, Executive Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council.
Despite these efforts to keep Agents Ramos and Compean free pending appeal, the judge in the Ramos-Compean case ruled against the agents, denying bond pending appeal and denying an extension of time to report to prison. Agents Ramos and Compean are therefore expected to report to prison .
The battle for the freedom of the two agents that were arrested for doing their job will continue. They deserve a medal ,not prison.
During the time the drug smuggler was given immunity to testify, he was again caught trying to smuggle even more drugs into this country and was given immunity on that too.WHY ???
IS SMUGGLING DRUGS TRYING TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE?
I guess it is if you are a criminal. The guy was a known drug smuggler and you can bet the farm that this creep had a weapon.
They should have shot to kill him,not just wound him in his azz.
I understand that the jury found that they had picked up cartridges and filed a false report, after the fact, to hide what had happened.
THAT deserves some level of punishment, but I'm thinking suspension w/o pay or at the far end, firing them for not following procedures. The coverup in itself is not ,so far as I know, an actual crime that should make them see jail time.
I understand that the President is 'looking into' pardoning them, right now, but is saying that he has to take a 'hard look' which I suspect means he thinks he should follow the court. However, a Presidential pardon rarely comes into play until a court has found someone guilty.
Here there is evidence that there was an insidious policy that border patrol couldn't give chase when on the other hand they are supposed to stop drug running and if they can't give chase what are they supposed to do? This is in an atmosphere where we are reading regularly about new corruption found in the Border Patrol, and where a border patrol officer doing his job may not feel his superiors will support him. Even the Court said it felt it had no choice but to give the long sentences due to penalties regarding 'crimes with a gun' by statute, indicating the sentences didn't seem equitable to the court. I think the President should take note of the fact that in this instance the statutory penalties combined with the improper Border Patrol policies create an entirely unfair system which, if followed, would jeapardize the effectiveness of our Border Patrol going forward.
I'm not saying the guys should be reinstated (although I'd feel safer with them at the border) but jail for 10+ years is outrageous, in my opinion.

Hockey, they can't pull the race card because the Border Patrol agents in question happen to be of Hispanic heritage.
Here is a link for the un-informed out there that want to make dumbazz statements without knowing the facts of the case..
http://www.americanfreedomriders.com/joe...
Anyone that has read the facts of this case would have to agree that these two agents were railroaded. Pure and simple.
Interesting to note that the La Raza group is not all over this pulling the race card. Could it be that they only pull the race card when someone opposes their agenda? Could it be that these fine men are considered traitors to the cause? They have hispanic surnames. Where are those commie bastar** ACLU? All of these groups have been pretty quiet.
The facts are pretty obvious here. Our Government has a look the other way policy when it comes to this invasion and these two men didn't. The government was trying to send a message to the border patrol that they "need" to look the other way too.
We the people need to find out who is behind this, who is getting paid and put them on trial.....might as well start with Bush.
Yes, he should he needs to learn not to kill innocent people, if they are not harming him, What he should have done is send them to jail if they were crossing the border illegally that was his job, but not to kill them for no reason of course if they were threathening him thats ok.
these men should be pardoned for they were doing what they are supposed to do on their job and that is to protect the people of the US from foreign insurgents, terrorists and invasion by foreign military. Just as every US citizen that has ever served in the military that has an Honorable discharge has the same obligation under their oath of service which they are still obligated to the defense of this country. And as for these (Drug Runners) in my opinion, they are nothing more then foreign insurgents
trying to subvert the people and the government of the US through the use of drugs. NOT ONLY are they violating US Laws, they are also Violating International Law by their actions
WTF? This is so stupid! I remeber when I was at Slovenia and Croatia border on a train, I was freaked out to see a small group of border patrol armed with a machine guns walk in to check everyone passport! I'm sure if I got out and try to run, they wouldn't have a problem to pump me full of leads.
I think border partol should have right to shoot any illegal alien who try to flee.
I am an American and I love this country very much. But sometimes I wonder why some of the public officials who are supposed to protect the righteous turn around and protect the unrighteous. A good example is this case. The alleged "victims" were not only illegal aliens but worse so, they are drug runners in American soil. Why should we hold those US border patrol officers who are protecting the security of our country, criminally liable for doing their jobs? Is this the way we reward our hard-working men who are risking their lives just to secure our borders?
If you swear to protect or serve on our borders or in the military you put your life in danger (((((By Your Government))))who will hang you out to dry to prove they are politically correct. If you make it back don't expect any help at all,you will get a nice flag for your grave that's it.That goes for the police too ,protect yourself any way you can, when it hit the fan your on your own.SO the answer is( NO)
No. that is awful the border patrol officers have clean records and where doing there job. I protested to my congress person and join fair immigration organization and emailed the white house asking President Bush to pardon the officers
The U.S attorney should that gave the drug dealer immunity should be fired immediately.
Its time for Americans to Stand Up and be Counted !
no
Well these illegal aliens and their supporters need to understand.. THIS IS AMERICA! There are processes for everything. I think that the government is so worried about being politically correct that they are losing what america stands for. We've already begun losing religion.. (its freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM it.) anyway...i guess its just anything goes anymore. our constitution means little anymore. If you want to become an american, GO FOR IT> but dont bring drugs with you.. go through all the steps.. do it the right way. it may take a while, but its better than being shot. good grief.. maybe when mexico is empty, we should go ahead and take it over.. we're gonna be supporting it anyways. with all the illegals working here and sending money back home. Dont get me wrong, i think its good that people want better lives for themselves... but you have to do it our way if you wanna come and live with us. Dont protest for immigrants to stay here while waving MEXICO flags.. tisk tisk. Pick up the ole RED, WHITE, and BLUE (translate: ROJO, BLANCO, Y AZUL) or something like that, study american history.. get some american pride..and become AMERICAN!
