If we all wrote letters to our congressmen/congresswomen... do you think we would get heard?

This almost unbearable economy is killing us! I know I'm not alone out there when I ask, what do you do? The cost of gasoline is so high, you almost can't afford to go to work, but you have to work to pay the bills, you almost can't afford the luxuries of even bologna sandwiches anymore because groceries have sky rocketed, too. What has the richest country in the world come to??? We are working to support illegals while they drive luxury SUV's and we can't even afford to drive to the grocery store. Please people, if all of us Americans get together and start bombarding our legislators, maybe something would/could get done. Let's stand together. Remember, "one nation under God". Let's quit bellyaching and get our voices heard. Anyone else out there with me? I don't have a problem in helping those in need, I just have a problem giving to those who want it all. May God bless each and everyone of you reading this.

Answer:
Hey there, you know you have a very good point, I my self think that if we all wrote out congressmen-women we all might be heard in some form or another, we all want to make a stand and we all want to be heard out there, its like that little story book, about the elephant and the little teny tiny WHO, it only takes one person to SPEAK OUT and be heard and then the rest may follow thru!!
Yes, if enough say the same thing. Keep it short and to the point.
Ask the Madam Speaker herself.

i disagree with opiniona, I think we should be loud and longwinded. frustrate them as they frustrate us
YES,YES It means alot when people tell congress what they want !

Call, as well.
I've read two articles on the immigration bill today and both mention that Senators have been besieged by calls and emails from their home states. It's having an effect, and Senators who otherwise would have voted "yes" are non committal or even opposed to the bill in its present form.
we are this is not a new concept... there is petitions floating all over the internet... senators are getting flooded with calls and faxes etc.
YES!!Look at what happened to Lindsey Graham in his home state this weekend..He got booed, very badly.McCain got booed too.
Of course not.
no - I don't believe in representative gvt anymore. I think they lie their way into office then push their own agenda.
Yes I do..And please, don't let me stop you.But how can you say the economy is unbearable? We have one of the lowest inflation rates in history.Interest rates, same thing.Home ownerships is also the greatest of all time...The stock market and property values are strong..I am not sure we live in the same country. The main problem right now is gas prices..And honestly, we have gotten away with the cheapest gas prices in the world, FOR A VERY LONG TIME.Time to pay the piper.Try living in Europe and then talk to me about high gas prices. And one last thing, I have NEVER seen an illegal driving a luxury SUV.They usually drive beat up mini vans or older cars..Perhaps you are seeing Hispanics and assuming they are all illegal.I have seen many Hispanics driving SUV's, but trust me, they are not illegal, but most probably US citizens.
Apathy has led to our current status, too many people think their vote or their opinion won't matter so they do nothing. Well hello, here we are. Turn off American Idol get to you computer, phone, snail mail and let your elected officials know what YOU think. Even though you may have a low opinion of politicians they do not have a crystal ball to see what you think. Record low voter turn out year after year, if you haven't voted, you only have yourself to blame. When a politician is is inundated with letters, e-mails phone calls he/she had better be responsive to his/her constituency or he/she will be working somewhere else. Check out their voting record and let them know if you agree or disagree. We all must get involved it's our only hope. By the way, in the past I've fought City Hall and won! I was amazed to find out how many people thought the same as me about a particular subject, but they didn't know until I spoke before my City Council. The meeting was televised and all of a sudden I had lots of support and we won! Yes, yes, yes let them know!!!!
I really doubt it. Once they are in office, they push their own agendas. Only during the election process do they turn to you for your vote. Once in office, it's hoorah for me f*** you.
I live in Pa and made my opinion known to both my Senators. They both voted in favor of the bill, which I knew they would. But,I wanted them to know that I,as one of the people they are supposedly working for, wanted them to vote NO.At least one of them had the decency to write back, telling me what he thought I wanted to hear, but his vote spoke more clearly than any letter he could send to try and pacify me.I also told them that if they voted for the bill, they have lost any of my future votes.
