On a student visa and got married?

My husband came here on a J1 visa and we recently married. How would we go about getting his green card?

Answer:
1. J-1 is not a student visa is an exchange visitor visa, but you can go to college and take courses with that visa.
2. First of all, is he subjected to the 2 years requirement, if so he MUST go back to his country.
3. Are you a US citizen?, if you are, you can start the process as soon as possible, if you are not it will take years ( maybe 5 ) for him to obtain a green card.

hope that helps.
bye

Check the website to see all the forms you need to submit !!
If you're still not sure call them and ask them, they have an 800 number in their web site.

Remenber that every form you send needs to be attached with the money order and besides the form send everything else they ask you for like marriage certificate, date of birth, etc.

And when the interview comes make sure you have papers that prove that you have a life together like, lease contract, car insurance, bank account, credit card under both names, bills, taxes, pictures, etc.
Find yourself an immigration attorney to help you sort out your options. DO NOT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT LEGAL ADVICE FIRST! it may complicate a simple situation.
