I went to green card interview yesterday. The officer put "I-485 Pending" on my passport and asked me to come back the next day with my original birth certificate (because I didn't have it at the interview. I had a certified copy of translated version and left original at home). I went back to show my original birth certificate but the same officer was not there and someone else had to review my original. He confimed seeing my original then made a note on my appointment letter saying "seen original". He told me they will send me a letter so wait for it. --- My lawyer said I just need to wait and everything should be fine. Indeed, the interview went very good. How long will it take for me to get a card in a mail? Is the fact that the officer put I-485 pending on my passport - is it a positive sign? Or can they decide to give me any problems later? Thank you for reading my question. Appreciate anyone with serious answers.
Answer:
If it wasn't approved, they'd have told you. A maximum of 12 months before you receive the card itself.
You will just have to wait until it is processed. Sounds all good though. Best of luck to you.
Everything seems to be in order. If they need to see more documents then they will contact you. Otherwise, it sounds as if your interview went very well and your green card is on its way.
