Its Not That Hard, Congress, Is It??

Why is it that Congress just can not seem to put together a bill to solve any problem with out loading it with pork and unworkable “solutions”???

For example the illegal Immigration issue. Simple solution would be to place a stiff fine upon US employers daily for each and every illegal in their employ. Say, $100 bucks a day per illegal. And I don’t care what country they are from. Mexico or Canada… if you are illegal, undocumented or what ever you want to call them, you can not be employed.

If you take the profit away from the businesses that hire them… they will stop. And, then poof, illegal problem over.

One more article in the bill. You can not receive any form of public assistance unless you are a US citizen. Take away the incentive to be here illegally and they will stop coming.

See, Congress… That was easy and it is what America wants!

What do you think?

Answer:
well if we stop illegals from coming in, then what will we do with the massive stockpile of candy that we've been handing out at the border? maybe we could make a giant candy raft, load up illegals, and ship them overseas to fight for america since they want to be americans, they should defend their country! lol
I don't see you mention Bush in here since this is the bill he wanted otherwise I agree with your point of hitting the employer
They only see votes and elections. They are deaf otherwise.
These 69 senators are traitors for voting to allow this Leave No Illegal Alien Behind Act to continue on to debate and passage. They must be voted out of office, if they are not tried and convicted for treason beforehand.

they dont get goverment benefits if there are illegal anyways , so that wouldnt work , let congress do what it does and just sit back and watch, i believe the americans are scared that if the illegals get documented they will take everything away from them because they are hard workers and good family oriented people ..they stick together no matter what . more than i can say for alot of american citizens!!!
As a permanent resident from England I've been through the immigration system and there are three main problems with what you're saying. 1. When someone applies for a temporary work visa it can often take longer to arrive than their permanent citizenship or residency status. I have a friend who married a british national. If he leaves the country to work he will be denied citizenship. They've been married for a year, and because of red tape they still haven't gotten the card. He can't work so they are stuck living with her parents. Still, some people have old visas they can use and some people start working without having proven citizenship yet, but with a promise to provide it later. Add to that the fact that we simply don't have the force or the money to enforce the law and it's pointless. 2. I'm a permanant resident, not a citizen. Last year I was diagnosed with cancer during the 2 day lapse between my health insurance. Now noone will insure me. Without public assistance (in the form of medical and a few months of disability) I wouldn't be able to afford treatment, I'd be bankrupt, and I wouldn't be able to put my ivy league education to any use. Public assistance is very hard to get. The process assures that only the most needy will receive it. 3. Do you know how expensive it is to become a citizen? It costs alot. That's the only reason I haven't become one yet. I've been in the country since I was nine, my father was American Air Force. Because of some by-laws citizenship was not transfered to me. It would cost me several thousand dollars up front to receive full citizenship, something a poor grad student and teacher simply cannot afford.

Just keep in mind that things are more complicated than most people know. What we need is a bill that will discern between illegal immigrants and legal ones, a more efficient system so that people don't have to wait years to be able to work (which would entice more people to work legally), and a system that doesn't allow people to stay just because of their children. I don't know where you are, but having lived in San Diego I've seen the problem first hand. People will purposefully get pregnant and have a child in the U.S. just to stay, and the result is a child that is destined to live in poverty and is often abandoned once citizenship is gained. It's awful.
Sorry for the tangent. I just don't want you to think I'm a bleeding heart who thinks everyone should be allowed here no matter what. Policy just isn't as easy to create as that.
