Can anyone help me find a research question for a research essay I have to write on immigration?
I would really appreciate any help at all:)
Answer:
There is definitely the whole issue of the contribution of immigrants to our daily lives that goes unnoticed. For that you just have to check into that movie, "A Day Without A Mexican". Or even the fact that this country was based on immigrants that didn't need documentation. Immigration brings up alot of different issues, you just have to look inside it and empathize a little. Most light skined people will think that the number of immigrants is the problem that needs to be solved, and those people that are dark skinned will argue that the immigration policies are unfair and need to be reformed. The aspect that bothers me is that immigrants come from all over the world, but the major focus is always turned on Mexico. What makes them so dangerous. There are criminals all over the world. And I understand that many Mexican immigrants come here illegaly, but the Mexican community is so large in this country that it's hard to keep up with the number of immigrants desiring residence in America, that they would rather just slip through the cracks. People will try and argue that they are breaking the law and putting a major strain on our economy, but everybody commits crimes. From running lights, to stealing cable, to lying. I'd be more worried about Canadian immigrants bringing beer and illegal sized hockey sticks over the border. Because as long as their working they're helping our consumer based society consume more. I know it stinks that they don't pay taxes, but they're still buying American goods, from stores that pay taxes, and they buy big ol' stupid trucks with cash. All the money that they make is basically going back to the American economy anyway. Hope this helped, besides the joke about Canada. Good luck.
Theres all kinds of information out there.
