Answer:
I think your mate is being funny...English will get you by, nicely
no, but a brain might...lordy!
Tell his to get his ears syringed before you will have another conversation with him
I live in the states and I dont speak any spanish, its a good idea to be bilingual but it is not necessary
hmmm, disgruntled job seeker?
Por Que, yo no habla espanol, perro nos tienes muchas trabajos y muchas dinero.

Opps, sorry, what was the question.
Good one! I've heard that you have to be bilingual to work at McDonalds in Texas.
No. We are going to ban all spanish speaking in public as soon as Tom Tancredo is elected president.
yes. it seams like english is a language of the past. HOW SAD!!!
trust me u do in america, im 100% pure hispanic u need to learn SPANISH. es blancas pooto en espanol
you'll be fine without spanish. however, certain places do have lots of spanish-speaking people so it couldn't hurt.
It really depends on where you are moving.... but just about everyone speaks English anyway.... I am assuming you are talking about the United States.......
Depends on where you'll be living.

Southern states bordering Mexico, particularly the closer to the border you are, have more people who will have Spanish as a first language. It's unlikely that you'd be totally unable to communicate with someone even in this circumstance as people in the area likely speak both Spanish and English. The only time you may have a problem would be in very tiny towns near the border but even then it's not certain.

Generally the further north you go the less you'll encounter large numbers of people who speak Spanish as a first language, or even at all.

In other words, it's not a necessity but it couldn't hurt if you're interested in learning the language or about the people and their culture.
Yes. Spanish and English will both serve you well in the US. We have a growing Mexican population who speak primarliy Spanish. These people will need help.

Oh, wait! You silly guy!
YOUR MATE IS TAKING THE
P**S OUT OF YOU
Your mate has been watching too much media propaganda on the telly. You don´t need to learn Spanish to emigrate to the US, especially if you´re going to the northeast or mid-west.
si
Are you trying to change old English customs abroad .... let them learn English!
You should go to Mexico and learn , first hand .
The easiest way to get into the States is to cross the border from Mexico. You better work on your fitness because you'll need to be able to run, jump and swim. Learning Spanish will help you converse with the Coyotes (the Mexican guides who will get you across) and once you're in Mex-ifornia or Tex-ico you'll need to speak Spanish in order to get along with the locals.

Before you all give me a thumbs down I only say this in jest and anger. Its all the pissing illegals that make the whole immigration process so frigging difficult for those of us that do come over through the proper channels and apply the law the way it is supposed to be used!
Sounds like a good idea. You will get along better after you get deported to Mexico.
It will in the future... you see millions of illegals are here and more are arriving everyday. When they have children in this country those kids are U.S. citizens who probably will use Spanish as a first language. Projections suggest we will be a Spanish majority nation in time. When that happens Spanish will be voted as the national language. America business will do anything for cheap labor, including selling out the the country for their own profit.
to learn any language is a good idea
