Hell no! All they give a damn about is getting into office. Once they are there they only care about themselves. They are all two faced and will tell the people whatever they want to hear. They don't give a damn what the people want.
First of all, neither party wants to do anything about it really because their and their primary contributor's wealth and our whole economic system (read---"their wealth") depends on the cheap labor they provide that are untouched by the strictures of minimum wage requirements for citizens.
Second, please, please, please try and step into their shoes for a moment. Do people who are living in good conditions, who have access to plentiful food, water, meaningful work, shelter, family and friends uproot themselves and head off to the austerity of a completely different culture and the difficulties that such a move entails?
The best way to deal with the illegal immigrant problem, is to work with the countries to ensure that the people in those countries have access to all those things that I mentioned. Supporting closing the borders and investing all our money in that is an ineffective solution. People will find their way in, and I gaurantee you that the lords of business and the political leaders they support will find a way to make sure that the cheap labor people get in.
To really do anything to address the problem, we MUST use our wealth and influence to increase the living conditions for the majority of people in bad situations in other countries.
