Lack of respect, with a drop of arrogance. Hey, if I wanted to move to another country (and I don't - I truly love my country), I'd be respectful and humble to their ways, laws, language(s), etc. I'd want to be a full member, I'd want to assimilate, and I'd try to enjoy and embrace the new culture. I would see it as broadening my horizons.

this may be a 'factor' in foreign thinking, but i do not agree that it is THE problem...i really don't give a rats behind what these people 'think' this country or its people are all about...they are coming in illegally and it is time to put a definitive stop to it!
If I were not able to care for my family or myself because of lack of money and/or opportunities in the country of my birth I would go wherever I needed to go legally or illegally to take care of them.
Until we've stood in their shoes we cannot & should not judge.

We are the greatest nation in the world,we may not be perfect but we are head and shoulders above the rest . If they l;ove and respect their own country's so much then why don't they stay there and FIX the many problems that their 3rd world country's have. They are the majority in their own country's and yet look how most are forced to live. With out a livable income,pure water,uneducated( not many good free schools) and without proper plumbing.
I say since the people that "down" the USA so much live in a tiny glass "house" you should not throw objects .or insults.
To the poster above...If I found my self in that position and I did do as they have done and come to the USA via illegal means ...Then I would be forever grateful to this nation for allowing me that privilege to a better life. Well, in addition to lack of respect, I would add lack of morals, ethics, integrity, honesty, and criminal intent to the list. It is in large part the fault of our government for failure to enforce our laws and for allowing the illegal immigrant Trojan Horse to multiply and demand sanctuary. The only way to stop it is to enforce the laws. Deputize all the local police and Homeland Security Representatives and put the illegals in work camps until they can be processed out or processed into real jail. It's time to get tough and let the world know that we truly are a nation of laws with enforcement instead of a sanctuary for criminals. Personally, I think we should write to the heads of the Olympic Committee and let them know that it is not safe for the Olympics to be held anywhere in the United States because of the sanctuary provisions giving lawless people safe-havens. Would you want to travel to a sanctuary city knowing that the laws are not enforced and that you can be robbed, raped and pillaged by lawbreakers and nothing will be done about it? That's how we legal citizens feel right now and we are not travelling to sanctuary cities. We're not giving them one dime of our money and we're not taking a chance with our safety and the safety of our children.
I think that they are terminally ignorant. Somebody once said that latinos were the most arrogant and racist of all of the cultures, and from what I have seen, it seems to be true.
I seriously see your point of view on the flags and how illegal’s see this nation. However I don’t agree with you on the Latino lobby. It’s not that they are justifying the disrespect that the undocumented have committed by entering illegally. Why don’t you see it as a way of finding a solution for the illegal immigrant issues that our country is facing? I do not agree on rounding people up and tagging them in system and sending them out without a warning.
I 100% agree. I'm sooo tired of people saying "we're the melting pot so what's wrong with melting some more?" and "a long time ago people came from all over, what's the difference?" I'm upset that there are congress members who want to give illegal immigrants their papers so there won't be so many problems, and to raise votes. I heard it on C-Span this morning " If all they did was come illegally why not give them their papers? They've already been here for so long." POINT BLANK- ILLEGALLY
It's not like theirs only one country who speaks spanish. There are MANY countries that speak spanish, does that mean that spanish is not their own language? If we don't go to other countries (besides Iraq which I'm not too much for that either) telling people what to do and how to run their laws then why should they? I not too long ago became of age and I'm definately going to vote.
I cannot help but agree with some of your points. however the whole issue cannot be just shrinked to one of respect. It runs deeper than that. Lots of immigration reforms would need to be made to allow people to come here legally and allow that they learn about your culture the proper way and learn how to value it. I know of a russian woman whom has come here as a U.S. citizen fiancee. She has nothing but contempt for the American culture and never tries to learn anything about it thinking that her own is better anyway. Lots of people are like that and if they feel oppressed or despised or cheated in anyway this feeling of being better only gets worse. I myself i'm not from the U.S. but i am always interested in learning new ways (american or not), I value my culture but i also value those of others and my life experience as shown me that very, very, few people (Americans included ) are like me. So do not think that only Hispanic immigrants are disrespectful of others' cultures. When i was in my country in Africa the school i went to had both black local folks and white immigrants. One day a white student parent came to the headmaster and demended that they put her kid with white teachers only!!! She however was in my country but didn't think that we were good enough people for her to meddle with. I hope you get my point, but i understand that you feel outraged at people disrespecting your culture when they want to stay in your country.
You make some good points. I married a Nigerian and I'll tell you that the group that I met does not respect America. I listen to some of the comments that they make about this country and my question always is why are you here? I ponder the question "Why do you come here if you don't plan to be apart of the American culture? I watch all these different groups not just the Nigerians but when they come they bring their flags and try to impose their culture on the Americans. If your country is so great why do you want to become an American and why try to recreate your country here.
