My green card is expiring in 2 weeks, can I file my Us Citizenship instead? or renew my green card 1st?
Answer:
You are required to have a valid green card in order to apply for citizenship; it's in the instructions for the N-400 application:
http://www.uscis.gov/files/article/m-476...
first and formost why is ur green card xpiring? You should have BEEN seeing about getting your CITIZENSHIP and to go and swear in to become a us citizen!!!
ahhhh you were so lax about it huh?
Time's up! See ya!
You need to file I-90 to renew the green card. You should also file your N-400 for natz. You will need to keep the green card until you become a citizen. go to uscis.gov and you can file the I-90 online.
You need to renew it. After file for citizenship it takes 4 months to become a citizen. Also the fees for citizenship is going up next month to $675 so do it now while its only $400. Make sure though you go to www.uscis.gov for any information or call 1-800-375-5283. Even when your green card is expired you are still a legal permanent resident.
