On tourist visa but to marry a US Green card holder??

i have a tourist visa in the us and plans to marry my bf green card holder. can i marry him and adjust my status while in the US?? what would happen to my tourist visa??

Answer:
Yes ,you can get marry ,it doesnt matter he has green card.get marry and ask him to file I-130 to get status.it will take 5 years to get green card, but when he becomes US citizen,He will file again a new case I-485 and it will take not more then 2 years MAX...the time depends on the state you are living in(to check the processing time in your state, click on posted link).
dont listen to people.my one cousin was on student visa and the other one was visiting here both get married to US citizen girls, and they were not deported.their visa status were adjusted, got green card.
BUT YOU NEED A GOOD JEWISH LAWYER,(no doubt they are the best)

you can't just "adjust" it. it's not that easy, you have to file paperwork, go to meetings, pay over 1,000 USD if fees....and the appointment waiting list is several months long. you'll have to go back home first, sorry. why doesn't your boyfriend file a fiance visa for you, before you get here? and then you can come in on that? but...i'm not even sure if he can...being a 'greencard' holder and not a citizen. go to www.usa.gov and research your options
is not gonna work this way ...you would get deported. only thing is you marry and then u go back to your country and wait till the paperwork for your k3 visa is done. But because he is not an usc ..it gonna need a lot of time

it's easier and faster for you to go home and for your BF to file a fiancee visa. If you are both organize it will only takes 6 months.
Of course you can marry your boy friend, this is a free country. However because he only has a green card, he is not qualified to sponsor you as his wife to over stay your visa or adjust your status because he himself is not an American yet. That means you'd need to return to your own country first. If you want to stay longer before returning, you could try to apply to extend your tourist visa. Only until your husband becomes a citizen himself can he sponsor you to adjust your status here.
Unfortunately, US Green Card holder can not sponsor any status to his spouse. This is American law black hole. You will not be able to get any legal status here until he becomes US Citizen.
If he would have H1B or even student visa, you would easily get spouse status, but not with green card holder.
My suggestion would be go back to your country with him and get married there.
Then he returns alone and files 1-130, and sponsors you as his wife.
Here is the information on this: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/m...

It could well take some time this way as he isn't a US Citizen yet.
Green card holders take less preference and could be turned down if he can't prove he can sponsor you.
First of all its illegal to come to the U.S. with intentions to get married without a fiance visa. But if you come here without a fiance visa and the two of you decided to get married on the "spour of the moment" u are forgiven by law. That wont make u a legal immigrant though. You will have to file the paperwork for Adjustment of Status (it is also mandatory to have a series of medical tests and vaccinations with that) , they will fingerprint u and give you an interview with a immigration officer. The whole process usually takes 6 months 1 year after you sent the paperwork. If everything is ok they will send u a conditional greencard (2 year greencard). 90 days prior your second marriage anniversary you can send in the paperwork for a permanent greencard. As for the citizenship it will take 3 years from the day you received your greencard.
The adjustment of status process will cost you around 1500 $ in forms and medical expenses. It would be cheaper if you dont want to file for the work or travel permit (if you dont file keep in mind that u wont be able to work or travel outside the us till you receive your greencard though). You can find the procedure step by step here www.visajourney.com
good luck
