Are American Immigrants in MExico ( more than a million now) trying to learns Spanish?
they arent..so quit complaining about mexicans not speaking english in america if your fellow countyrmen are doing the same in mexico.

Anyway, American immigation to Mexico is probably 1% of what Mexican immigration to America is. Also, many of the Americans probably are legal citizens, and not illegals.

LoL! I am reminded of the joke about Americans tourists and how we tend to think that by speaking English louder and slower, the natives would somehow understand us.
I do speak Spanish (not so great accent, obviously) and read French though.
English is the language of this country, even Native Americans speak English, why dont you? And if you dont like it, go back, we will not miss you!!
My Dad has a house there and he tries to learn Spanish (he took some in college but it got rusty.) Mostly when he speaks Spanish, they speak English back to him, though, so he says he doesn't learn as fast as he would like to.

When I visit Mexico and see Americans, they speak very good Spanish.I don't agree with you.
First of all, most American immigrants in Mexico are LEGAL and they HAVE MONEY so the Mexicans WANT THEM THERE! However, if the American immigrants need to WORK there and need to LIVE in an area that is not a TOURIST TRAP, they will LEARN SPANISH out of NECESSITY (otherwise they won't have many people to talk to and they won't be able to get anything)! That's how life works. I can guarantee you that if poor, illegal Americans were ending up in Guadalajara or other communities in the interior and they didn't know Spanish, they would soon be in the local jails or worse because Mexicans wouldn't put up with them. The U.S. is MUCH more tolerant of our poor, ignorant, lazy bums than Mexico.
American immigrants in Mexico MUST learn Spanish. Mexico makes no moves to be a 2 language society.. You won't hear "press 1 for English" anywhere in Mexico..
