How long does it take for I-130 form to be processed?
Answer:
USCIS processes Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, as a visa number becomes available. Filing and approval of an I-130 is only the first step in helping a relative immigrate to the United States. Eligible family members must wait until there is a visa number available before they can apply for an immigrant visa or adjustment of status to a lawful permanent resident.
P.S.
And from my cousin's experience it took about 5 years. but other people took about 4-7 yrs.
My husband filed in 2001 and I only got my green card few months ago. My problems was mainly due to their errors so delayed things.
It depends really on where you have filed and your father's situation and from what country he is from. (translations on docs and all that).
Once they have given you your number you can then track the number on the US immigration website. It usually lists what numbers they are seeing over next few months. If your number is not listed, you kind of work it out by how far your number is.
Hope this helped.
Immigration process is taking longer thesedays unfortunately.
