No. It is a great idea. The fence should be about 20 feet high, topped with barb or razor wire and they should drive piling into the ground about 50 to 60 feet deep to prevent tunneling.
Come to the US-Mexican border in El Paso, there already is a fence here!
And might I add that it works pretty well.
Yes, there should be (more) fencing on the border because it is sorely needed.
It is a good start we also need better enforcement, more Border patrol officers and electronic surveillance. We cannot fix the illegal alien problem until the border has been secured.
I don't think it will do any good to build a fence but if it makes people feel better whatever. and as for the robert frost poem maybe someone should actually take the time to read it and see what it actually says!

I'm a pretty liberal person but yes, I am in favor of more fencing. Why? It's a matter of retaining our nation's industrial output more autonomous, keeping jobs, & keeping job pay up.

What a fabulous idea. That * needed to happen decades ago...We need to get rid of all these illegal immigrants its ridiculous..every hospital emergency room, every corner, every freeway on and off ramp. This shits getting out of control and were finally going to do something about it...

I think the fence would be a waste of money,when Americans were inforceing the law there was no need for a fence,I say spend that money on law inforcement and let them do their jobs! Instead of putting our minutemen in jail for securing our border our government should give an order to shoot to kill anyone crossing the border,I think they would get the hint real quick!

I think it is bad, because people will find a way to climb the fence, unless you make the fence like 100 ft, then that would be okay.
NO its not a good idea... regardless if they build it, people are going to find a way to get over here either through land air or sea... this is just going to provoke even more deaths than there already are...
I like the fence idea. But as long as they profit, the illegals will continue to come. If we want to stop them, then we need to fine them and take away the profits that they are counting on. Make it cost them and the incentive goes away.

It is a great idea... anyone that wants to cross the border is supposed to cross it at a designated port of entry anyway so it would only bother those who want to cross an international boundary without being inspected and admitted by customs officials.
The fence is a proven success in San Diego and in Yuma, Arizona.
1. The fence immediately filters out those who are not physically capable of climbing it.
2. It slows those who are capable and enable the border guards to apprehend them or chase them back.
3. it funnels the illegal alien traffic to the edge of the border fence where they can walk around it.
the fences are mostly in urban areas where the illegals can blend in with other pedestrian traffic. if the illegals move to the edge of the fence and sneak around it they have a longer distance to travel which once again makes it easier for the border guards to do their jobs.
Another residual effect it that it keeps windblown trash on their side of the fence...
In Yuma, AZ. area there has been around a 70 percent decrease in Illegal alien traffic tributed to the new border fence construction (infrastructure) National Guard observation posts, and more border guards being hired.
I'd be happier with a mine field between two fences. But the problem is with both ideas is that ranchers along the Rio Grand need river access. The only solution is to annex a strip of Mexico and put the fence on the south side in that area. Somehow I don't think that is going to happen. The French found out in 1940 that having a fence that is not closed off doesn't do a lot of good (referring to the Maginot Line not extending between the French/Belgium border). Still, for Arizona and California, a fence would be a very good thing - Texas would just become the new immigration highway. I really don't care what the Mexican government thinks - they're the ones sponsoring the invasion in the first place.

I think it's a great idea. Only I would suggest pulling all of our military out of the Middle East and bring them back home to the United States Of America and have all of them border the streets finding and deporting illegals and border up every single possibly way for anyone to get into the United States. And that's what our troops should do.monitor every border and shoot whomever even tries to get through. This is only my opinion of course.
I think something needs to be done to tighten the borders, however, I don't think the fence is going to be it. Building a fence makes alot of people feel like they are doing something, and yes they are. But it isn't going to accomplish what they want. Even with a fence there will be people who will enter illegally. The only difference between now, and with a fence is that it is going to be more dangerous, and cost more money for them to come. But as the coyotes find a way to get in, people will be brought in. And speaking of border fences - every one keeps talking about Mexico this and Mexico that, what about a fence up at the Canadian border, and tighter border control up there? There have been terrorists that have come in via the Canadian border. It is more expensive to come that way, but they DO come in that way.
And just how many miles long do you think this fence needs to be? Do you think this is actually a cost-effective solution (given that it would cost a heck of a lot of money). Are you not aware that tunnels can be dug UNDER a fence? They already use tunnels to get in in some places. A fence is not the solution. A fence can easily be gotten around.
