Is it possible to show pride in you country and its symbols without putting down others?

Answer:
Apparently not, at least for some people.
Yes. You just have to be careful how you do it. Don't blast your native music around the streets at odd hours of the mornings, and don't hang a 20x20 flag of your native country on the side of your house either.

The polite and respectable thing is to make it non offensive to those around you.
excuse me? I don't really understand the question. well I love the United States and its great leaders but who am I putting down?unpatriotic democrats(thats a redudant phrase)...?
Sure it is. Ask every patriotic American citizen. Those you should be questioning are the anti-American flag wavers.
Yes, of course. It's called respect for your fellow humans. Too many people confuse opinion with fact and feel like putting others down is the only way to assert their arguments.
Yes.
That doesn't make much sense.
When in rome, do as the romans.

You are there as a guest and not a representative, or else it would be a different matter, such as being an Olympic contenders or Ambassador.

It really only shows that you have no respect for where you are.
Respect and honor the country you are in. Don't go waving some other countries flag, unless you are looking for trouble.
You must respect the country your in. Use common sense and all would be fine.
Only if others are willing to accept your right to do so. Seems you can't do anything these days without offending someone. Hell with them.
yes its possible
Sure. The problem with some individuals, from other countries, is that they don't show any allegiance to America. They hang onto their former country and don't show respect for America. If they can't show pride in America, why are they here?
Yes. I show pride by flying the flag on my doorstep. I show pride but practicing my religion. I show pride by voting and writing my congressmen.
However when you tell someone else they have no right to do the same you cross the line. When you insist that your way is the only way to live, pride has gone to far.
However if someone else's way of life harms other people, one can say they are wrong.
Don't make moral judgments about harmless things, but don't turn a blind eye to murder or mutilation.
Not according to the ACLU.
Depends what you mean, if you are a Mexican than this isn't your country so you don't need to be displaying symbols of it here, if you want to do that GO HOME because I sure as hell don't want you.
I find it extremely ironic that alot of the people that answered your question, answered it by putting down other people. I think the answer to your question, is yes, it is possible to show pride without hurting or putting others down. People choose to put down others due to either ignorance, closed mindedness, arrogance, hatred. Sometimes all of the above.
