Can someone be denied citizenship to US based on a charge for retail theft?

Answer:
I read a report in the Daily Mail newspaper in the UK a couple of years ago who did an investigation into this.

Apparently it is against the confidentiality of information Act and would;d not be divulged to any foreign Government.

Now if you had terrorist or murder convictions, that would be a different matter.

If in Doubt say nowt, I am sure they will tell you if they knew any different.

Retail theft is no longer a crime in the UK as of 2007, you just get a warning, you pay back the money and apologies and that's it.

The UK and USA Governments are very close, if you are from a different country, your government would be even more unlikely to divulge such a minor offense to a foreign Government.

Good Luck
Any kind of criminal charge can negatively affect a chance at citizenship. Be honest about the charge because they will find out about it. Also, you will probably want a lawyer that knows what they're doing.
They planning on taking up shop lifting as a career when they get into the US?
I would certainly hope so.
