How does an Australian citizen go about getting a 6month visa for England?

I want to go to England for 6months and dont know how to go about it.

I dont think an australian citizen requires a visa to go to England but to make sure please make an appointment to go to the british consulate in your country or you could just request the information by phone I am almost sure australians can go to england with out visa but check anyway.
