Hi, I'm Mexican and I want to be legal.. yes.. legal...?

I was brought the U.S. without my consent of course, when I was 11 years old, I'm close to being 20 now and I've loved the U.S. so far, however, being Mexican, the door to getting a green card is shut down almost completely. I've maintained great grades throughout grade school and high school, I want to get a green card to be successful in life and to give something back to the U.S. and to the people that helped me. My father who resides in Mexico has talked to some lawyers over there and apparently I cannot get a visa if I return to Mexico, so what do I do? I know I will be successful no matter what, but have a plan is better than anything. Happy Fourth of July.

Answer:
Sit tight.there will be a olagal path for you to follow sometime in early 09.
Till then, dont worry. Keep your nose clean and stay out of trouble...you will be just fine
buena suerte mi amigo !
No answer for you, but good luck
Talk to INS.

If you want to go back to Mexico to live why bother becoming an american citizen? I appreciate you wanting to give back but you might as well go back to Mexico.
If you came here under the will of someone else at age 11, then you were kidnapped or used as a laundering scheme. Check out the Mexican laws on this and find out how you can help yourself legally there first. It sounds like your parents have used you to make money and that was unfair to you. Of course, I still have the issue that you are illegal and you still need to go back to Mexico until you can figure out how to come here legally. I think you need to see a lawyer or something to get legal advise on what to do and about what you claimed happened to you.
All i can tell you is that the DREAM Act is your best bet (look it up). . .It can be brought to the attention of the senators and house of reps. if we make enough noise. Other than that you would have to be married (legit) . But since you entered illegally, it's going to be a very lengthy process that takes years upon years, and even then it's not guaranteed that you will get your permanent residency. . .I'll supply you with some numbers to call so we can get the attention of the right people out in Washington. . .
!Stay out of trouble, try and keep as many documents showing how long you have resided here, and the U S govt. will open a door for you soon
I dont understand why people incriminate themselves constantly over the Internet.
get an american friend to go down to the immagration place where they handle those matters and figure out what you gotta do. dont go yourself though cuz they might just deport you. good luck
Sad, but illegal by any other name is still illegal.
You need to return home and apply. You were brought here as a child therefore it wont be held against you and it shows you want to obey the law if you return to Mexico. Your grades etc. will be looked upon favorably and you will be able to return legally. If you remain illegal,it will make matters much worse for you. It may take a while for you to come back to the U.S. the right way but if you keep trying and be patient, you'll succeed. Good luck!
1) Asking that question here is like a Black guy asking how to get a better job at a KKK rally.

2) As the situation stands, your best bet is to marry someone who is a citizen and start a family, and apply to legalize your situation afterward.

3) If you go back to Mexico, you'd have to enter back to the USA as an illegal. The legal immigration procedure at this point is impossible in most Latin American countries.
The United States welcomes you...and i would also welcome you as a Fellow American citizen...just please go thru all the legal channels...get things proper ...and you should have no trouble my friend. Do it legally...and be successful...I wish you all the Good Luck...and you will suceed...persist and maintain a good reputation. Be well..
What I'm about to say will be positive, but the only reason I'm answering you is because you were a kid when you came and didn't chose to be an "illegal". Otherwise, I would not have answered this question as I am strongly against illegal workers and feel that the American poor would be better off if the vast majority weren't here.

If you don't have relatives that can petition for you to live here, there's no way to become a resident at this point. In your case, you would have to have a US citizen or legal resident wife or parent, or sibling that's a US citizen. Even then, it could take a long time depending on the situation. An employer can file, but chances are not good. Having been here illegally 9 years would not be in your favor.

And don't count on amnesty. That's not gonna happen. Not next year, not in '09, not for many, if any years. And I don't think it should. People who are hoping it will keep saying it will come, but Americans are becoming more and more against illegal workers and with time, that will get stronger, not weaker.

There is no "you're a nice guy" immigrant visa, so don't waste your time with immigration lawyers. They will only be happy to take your money and pretend to be working on something. And don't bother congressmen because they've got better things to do.

I not going to tell you what to do. You'll figure it out or have already considered what's being implied in the second sentence of the second paragraph of this answer. My advice would be to return to Mexico and do the right thing. But, I know that's not your plan. Just make sure you don't do anything fraudulent. Lots of people do the implied answer when the time is right and not just to become legal.

People often have to live with the results of what happened when they were kids, even when it's not their fault. That's life. But if you have the right attitude about it, and it appears that you do, you know that being successful doesn't mean you have to live in the US. There are an awful lot of unsuccesful poor people in this country and many successful Mexicans in Mexico. There's no reason to not be proud of being Mexican and there's no reason to think you could never be successful living there. Those are excuses for fear of failure.
marry a US citizen. that's your best bet.
anothter option is to finish college and have an employer petition you.
if you go back to mexico, there's a good chance that you may not be given a US visa bec you stayed here illegally. good luck.
Hi. I believe that as long as you have not broken the immigration laws willingly, that avenues to get a green card SHOULD be open to you. Try contacting the immigration department and see what processes you'd need to go through. Please don't skimp - if you are serious in giving something back, go through the correct procedures, no matter how difficult they are - you will feel proud of yourself that you did it the right way and didn't freeload.

I am sorry your parents felt the need to try to take advantage of my country - always remember that they're the ones who put you in this peculiar situation, and not by any fault of the US (except maybe the open-borders nuts).

Good luck in your process (assuming you're going to try this the legal way)!
Ok here is what you do: Go to an immigration attorney and see if they can help. You may have to go back to Mexico but it would be worth it in the end. Good luck and I hope you make it.
Luis, I feel sorry for you being caught in the middle. There really are no definite laws either way about the children of illegals. Since Mexico is your native country, you might want to talk with INS and explain your situation. I personally would be proud to have you as a USA citizen legally. You are doing the right thing by checking with the proper authorities. Get all of your belongings in order before you talk to them in case they tell you it's time go back to Mexico immediately.

I think that anyone who has come to the USA illegally but has not forged documents or committed any other crimes should be given a chance become legal citizens if they to go back to their home country and apply legally to return. They would need to wait in line behind the others who are already on the waiting lists to enter as legal immigrants.

I wish you the very best. With your great attitude you will go far in this world. Maybe you will be the one to change Mexico so that it will be a kinder and safer place to live.
You need to find out a way to become legal. Do you have any U.S. Citizens, close relatives that could petition for you? Try to give us more details about your case?
I feel for you.

Now I'm over it.

Please return to your original country and work the system there.

Good luck.
u dont seem very proud of being mexican, so yea u better stay in the united states.. i hope u can obtain the green card...

¡VIVA MÉXICO!
