American Citizen hit the nail on the head - it's the ILLEGAL immigrants who are destructive and not constructive member so society. Look the prison population in the Southwest and Western states. It's no wonder their own country let them go. For those of you who rant about racism - YOU pay for the crimes these people committ, YOU paty for their healthy care, YOU pay for their welfare, YOU pay for their kids education.....not me. We pay enough taxes syupporting our own needy.
I think most of the shouting is against illegal immigrants. I don't hear a lot of complains about legal immigrants, but the ones breaking the law are a different matter.

I do, I realize that my grandparents came over in the bottom of a boat....but I also know that they entered this country legally, learned English, became proud citizens and never ever ever flew anything BUT the Flag of the United States of America.

Yes, I absolutely realize that. The problem is, we have LAWS - laws that are not being abided by, the politicians are not allowing law enforcement to enforce the laws, not are they making the illegal immigrants abide by the law. I have no problem with immigrants, we are a melting pot, we all came here from somewhere else thru lineage, however, to come here today, you must follow the law. It would help if you would speak ENGLISH when you get here legally as well.

Yes, but it's a different world today. Sad, isn't it, since we are all - all of us - in the same boat together. I wish we could find a way to make the entire world accessible to everyone, but until the haters stop their BS and stop trying to cram their agendas down our throats, there is going to be separation and paranoia and ever more hatred.

Apparently not. In my family it's the much more recent past, so I don't really have any issues with immigration or immigrants. We have always had immigrants, people just like to find scapegoats and pin the blame for something on someone - anyone. It's just convenient. Plenty of families have ancestors who snuck into the country through Canada, they just may not realize that they do. Legal and illegal immigration will always exist.
The problem is the taxes. As long as people pay their own way...that's what needs to be worked on first, that's the issue everyone is up in arms about. In the past you would either sink or swim - on your own.

I'm second generation Norwegian on my fathers side, so I am well aware that my ancestors were (are) immigrants. But they entered here legally, and became citizens after having done so. If people want to enter this country, then they can do the same.
I think that most people with immigrant ancestors that complain about recent immigrants would answer that their ancestors came here legally and made an effort to assimilate by learning the language of the country and following the customs of the country. What they are saying is that they feel the recent ones are not making those efforts, starting by coming here illegally.
At least that is what the rational ones say to have an intelligent discussion of the issue. The others are just ranting because they are afraid that immigrants will rise up the economic ladder faster than they ever did.

Before you ask a question, pay attention - the problem we U.S. citizens have is with ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS. They break the law by coming here illegally, then work illegally, send their kids to our schools while us taxpayers foot the bill, commit crimes against citizens, go to emergency rooms without having any way to pay for their medical care, clog up our freeways, drive without auto insurance, ... I could go on, but I think I've made my point.

There's no problem with immigrants. Immigration is a good thing if regulated. The problem is the unenforced laws against illegal immigration.
