Do you think the 6 requirements in the Review for people
wanting to become a naturalized citizen are really necessary. After all, those people who started our country just automatically became citizens as did those people who came to the U. S. for many, many years after we won our independence? Explain the reason(s) for your answer.

here are the 6 requirements:

To become a naturalized citizen of the United States a person must demonstrate a period of continuous residence and physical presence in the United States;

residence in a particular state or the District of Columbia prior to filing;

an ability to read, write, and speak English;

a knowledge and understanding of U.S. history and government

good moral character

attachment to the principles of the U.S. Constitution; and, favorable disposition toward the United States

Answer:
my only requirements would be no sex offenders, murderers, or other violent criminals. anyone who wants a better life for their family and themselves. i don;t think its fair about the English thing. can't we give them time to learn while they're here? it takes about 8 years to learn the English language. if the shoe was on the other foot you would want to come here.
Sure, why not? Especially the english thing.
I don't think it's enough. We have enough people here f ing up our country. I really don't think we can stand to have more. You should have to benefit this country in some way.
Good question. However, it is your test, not ours.

I would start by knocking down the idea that the people who fought a war to create our country hadn't passed as least as difficult a barrier to become US citizens, however.
I think it should be at least 110 month's not a second sooner!
Yes, those requirements were set in place so that the US wouldn't be overrun with criminals and degenerates. It really isn't too hard to actually adhere to the requirements and English is one of the easier languages to learn. Also, if you truly want to be an American citizen learning the history of the country where you will live is important as is remaining free of criminal activity.
Yes, every middle school kid has to do that at some point. So why not someone wanting to be american. If they really want it then it should be simple. As american i can do and disscuss all these issues. Plus if some one puts effort and show general concern and repect for a process or task they usually repect and are proud of the out come meaning you get a citzen more proud to be a american than some natrually born americans.
Why would someone want to become an American if he/she can't meet the minimum required. I would add more to it: like some social work or community programs. I know immigrants who actually enjoyed helping the community, they thought this is the best way to show their recognition for the new life.
I believe that a few requirements to become a US citizen are not too much to ask. For anything you apply to get there are requirements to meet before you can be approved, so why would a US citizenship be any different.
