Try not leaving your family, if you do, don't whine about it. It was your choice.

We have limits on how many can come each year. You can see why when you look at the results of illegal immigration above those limits on our schools, hospitals and services. Illegal immigration aside, we take about a million people legally each year. If we let them all bring family too, it would be many multiples of that, and our schools and services can't take them all. Unfortunately, we were and could be more lenient without so much illegal immigration, but now we get more illegal immigration than legal and a lot of people here just want to shut the doors altogether. I don't agree with that, but having children in the overcrowded schools, I do agree that we need to stop illegal immigration completely before thinking of loosening legal immigration.
There is an idea floating to cut off all but closest family from 'reconciliation' so that spouses and children can get here faster. I think that is a good idea, but right now there is so much illegal immigration that, frankly, that is where the issues are being focussed on.
Worse, when we gave amnesty to illegals in 1986, a lot of them DID NOT wait to 'reconcile' and their family makes up about 1/3 of all illegals here now, according to what I've read. That really complicates what to do with the illegals, and pushes off other potential reform.
