Im thinking of moving to Chicago from London? What are the dissadvantages?

Chicago is a lovely city. There are many things to do, from cultural events -- the theatre, museums, great restaurants, sports of all kinds, and lots of things for kids also. The parks are everywhere and the lakefront is really pretty. It's easy to get around -- great public transportation. The people are nice too. Cost of living is probably a little less in Chicago. It's hard to say about healthcare -- it you don't have insurance it's expensive no matter where you go unfortunately...pls email me if you have any other questions.

We (the US government) will make you pay out the eyeballs for the "privilege" of living here. You will not get any benefits of we do (tax deductions, homestead exemptions) but will have to pay all of our taxes. Insurance is private, no NHS as well as everything else. Besides the normal vehicle stuff, you will have to retake your driving tests and they are renewed every few years instead of permanent. The drinking age is higher (if that applies) and the language differences can sometimes cause confusion. People will try to screw you over left and right b/c you are foreign, I see it all the time.
