Needed for my essay. If you have a child in the US, is it easier to get a green card because he was born here.
Answer:
It can help, but it takes a long time. The child will have to turn 21 before he can sponsor his parents and the parents still have to qualify under the law, pay fees and have a criminal check. Many people believe that having a child in the US will automatically make you a legal resident. That is a myth. Immigration and Customs Enforcement deports people with US citizen children everyday. The people either take the kids with them or leave them in the US with relatives.
People born in the US are US citizens.
Not really, I think that is going to get worse for both of them, like it should.
No. The child being born in US will not in any way help the parents get green cards. Unless, the child becomes 21 years of age, when he/she can sponsor his/her parents for green card and subsequent citizenship.
unfortunately this is true
I think the laws should be changed
It's what we call it an "anchor baby". Though they are making tougher laws against it.
After the child turns 21 he can petition for you, not before.
I suppose that may still be considered an advantage.
Until he turns 21, I think that's rediculous. They should protect people to become illegal, but their so stupid they make documents break families up. Not like U.S. citizens care...
