Besides, the illegals hold so tight to their heritage (e.g., waving Mexican flags, don't learn English, expect everyone to learn Spanish, don't assimilate, etc... - generalities) they are not Americans.

I would say that it is possible for someone to break the law, come here illegally.. but then... maybe something inspiring happens to them and they truly want to be an a bonifide USA American citizen. Maybe they are even willing to join the military, get involved in doing things the right way.
